South Bend, IN - A former employee of the South Bend School Corporation has been charged with several counts of sexual assault, battery and misconduct stemming from incidents that took place last year.
Schmeca White, 27, worked as a teacher’s aid at Greene Intermediate School in St. Joseph County.
White faces nine felony charges involving seven children, all special education students. The charges include sexual battery, sexual misconduct and child molesting.
The victims are both male and female ranging in age from 11 to 15-years-old. The alleged inappropriate behavior took place inside a Greene Intermediate classroom in November and December of 2004.
White was fired from Green Intermediate for unrelated reasons, theft, in January of 2005. Shortly after her employment was terminated, several students came forward.
St. Joseph County Deputy Prosecutor Ken Cotter says, “According to our information, it took place in a classroom during a lunch hour when the teacher was either preparing for other classes or on lunch. These are students who would have been in the classroom, closed off from other students. We have been in contact with the school corporation. Since this investigation commenced, they changed the policy and changed the dynamics of the classroom so this can’t occur in the future."
The lunch period was about 30 minutes long. There were typically seven to ten students in that class. The students, for unknown reasons, were not allowed to each lunch in the cafeteria.
"It’s just sickening, what else can I tell you?” said South Bend Community Shcool Corporation Superintendent Dr. Joan Raymond. “Sometimes you really do wonder what is going on in this world. We do the best we can to keep our kids safe.”
The superintendent says a background check of White showed nothing suspicious, and that White had three children of her own.
There are also indications that White went to great lengths to make sure what went on in her classroom, stayed in her classroom.
“That’s actually one of the charges that we filed,” said Cotter. “There's information that a child had been choked, then when the teacher came in later and noticed that the child had a hard time breathing, the paraprofessional (teacher's aide) advised that the child suffered an asthma attack, and then paramedics were called to take him to the hospital and get him treated.”
Among other alleged acts too graphic to describe, White allegedly gave a 15-year-old student a lap dance and also asked students to remove some of their clothing.
White is being held in the St. Joseph County Jail on $10,000 bond.

Here we go again. This seems like a daily story from somewhere in America. Public education has a problem, and nothing is being done to solve it.
If this were going on in Catholic schools, it might get some serious media attention. But because it's government/NEA schools, it's only a local story.
When good is eradicated from our schools, that leaves nothing but evil, and this type of evil is spreading all over our schools. We hear of this evil almost daily.
What is it with all these unionized child-molestors from The National Education Association?
What is the NEA doing to protect our children?
The Liberal Media couldn't report more or fast enough on the sexual abuse scandal in the Catholic Church!
Let's see the same coverage and scrutiny of these NEA endorsed pedophiles!

Yes, but much more as well. Most of these teachers lately have been in the same 10-year age range. Liberalized education has been an abject failure and parents do nothing about it. They expect the schools to raise their kids. When the schools do, this is an example of what happens.
Yeah, I've participate in a few of these flaming sessions.

I hate the freeper that believes he or she is nuetral on a subject - whether it be smoking, teacher pedophiles, etc.

I know, this subject just really burns me. It is time for us to take a stand and demand that our children be protected. It burns me the most, knowing this woman will likely cop a plea and get probation or work release. The child predator sentencing in Indiana (and most of the country) is pitiful. These people are the lowest form of life on this planet and should be treated as such.

Sexual assault on a minor should be a capital offense that we freely dispense the death penalty for. These vermin must be put out of our misery.
Actually, I think that's too easy for them, I was thinking more like, life sentences, in the general population, (not protective custody)wink, wink... A little jailhouse justice.

No doubt they meant "Shamika," but with that mangled spelling, it may as well have been "smegma."
The boys enjoyed it so let her off on those but the girls are screwed up for life so put her in jail for life...isnt that how it goes?
