Bob Dole Speaks Out
Conservative Thoughts ^ | April 27th, 2005 | John Kuethe

Posted on 04/27/2005 6:23:28 PM PDT by Wrangler22

Today, Bob Dole has an Op-Ed piece in the New York Times. In it he speaks about the state of the 109th congress and its importance in American politics now in the future. As a veteran of the decades in the United States Senate and a man who has come as close as possible to the oval office, without becoming President, his credentials are beyond reproach.

Senator Dole speaks of the mutual self-restraint that has been observed by both parties throughout the history of this Nation. This restraint has been the key that has enabled the Senate to function and Presidents to get their judicial nominees confirmed for over 200 years. Now that the Democrats have abandoned this tradition they have set an impassable barrier to the process of confirming judicial nominees.

Many on the left will tell you, incorrectly that what Senator Bill Frist and the Republican party are doing, in changing the senate rules on filibustering nominees, is unconstitutional. The judicial filibuster is no one of the seven enumerated in Article 1 Section 8 of the constitution. Finally, the judicial filibuster is the mechanism liberals will use to keep an activist judiciary that makes laws instead of interpreting them.

So ole dole speaks out; amazing, when he ran for pres he never could say why he was running or what he would do, it was just his turn. You'd be hard pressed to find a worse presidential candidate than ole dole.

And then when he lost, he had to do a freaken' Viagra commercial. What a disgrace.

Didn't he also do a bladder add?

---I understand that some people get prostate cancer, but Bob Dole still didn't have to do the commercial for VIAGRA!

He was terrible twice. He ran for VP and was frighteningly bad at that.

Bob Dole was a pathetic screw-up. But you couldn't say anything critical because the guy was a war hero. We have the same thing today with John McCain.

True and false. I'll not say anything bad about Dole other than your "pathetic screw-up." Mc Lame is another matter, he is one lousy POS who is a complete, from head to toe, substance requiring Preparation H.

...and when he gets home, he should open a history book. That tradition of "mutual restraint" between these two parties is spotty at best. Threats, insults, public denunciations, duels, canings, you name it and you'll find it.

There's really been a lot of bullsh-t n this subject. Simple fact: Each session of Congress the House and Senate establish the rules they will operate with this session. NOT a big deal! When the RATS are the majority they do as they see fit and the MSM says nothing or cheers them on. They are NOT bound by the rules from the previous session, keep some, change some. What's all the lying about?
