We make curry rice at home and usually put in diced potatoes ; onions ; maitake mushrooms and some tiny slices of beef or minced beef and it ain't bad . Not quite as hot as I would like it , but my wife isn't into the hot hot hot stuff doncha know !

Indian curry in Indian homes isn't as hot as the ones masquerading in Indian restaurants as "curry".

Same with Chinese food. The stuff you get within China, especially the ones made at home, are a world away from what you get back home. Even the Chinese would find it strange to call it Chinese.
