DAVID PARKER, who recently moved to Lexington, was arrested at his son's elementary school for protesting a children's book showing a family with two moms or two dads (''Arrested father had point to make; disputed school's lesson on diversity," City & Region, April 29). Parker objects to this book and the teaching of diversity in the schools.
He should consider sending his son to the Christian school in town, where children with strong religious convictions, who are opposed to certain issues, can be taught with more narrow guidelines similar to his belief system. There, his son would not have to learn the wonderful diversity education taught in public school. There, his son would not have the rich opportunities of the Lexington public school system.
In public school, all Lexington children can attend and gain from the enormous diversity we have in this great town. It is a choice, and Parker can choose whatever school suits him best.
One of my children is in college and the other is about to leave for college, and I can say that this school system has taught them well and prepared them for adult life in the real world. Along with our beliefs taught at home, the Lexington school system provided them with many opportunities to know different types of kids from different types of families.
My children grew into very tolerant, intelligent, and caring young adults, the type of people we need more of. With the world changing so fast, not acknowledging and embracing the diversity of our fellow human beings is harmful and unproductive.

It appears 'Diversity' does not include Christians as fellow human beings.
I welcome and embrace diversity. I enjoy a wide variety of music styles. I – at times – enjoy a wide variety of foods. I enjoy seeing a wide variety of clothing styles. I have enjoyed a wide diversity of ethnic celebrations.
I do not believe that having my own ethnic or religious mores, styles or celebrations suppressed is very accepting of diversity.
The public schools may be failing to teach our kids to read and write, but at least they learn to appreciate diversity.
Repeat after me kids, "There is no good and bad, only different, and different is good..." (With the one exception being those conservitive religious red state people that must be stopped before they make us all go to church or stand up for the national anthem.)
Hey, I went to Catholic school for kindergarten, grammar school, and high school, and look how great I turned out! I don't even end sentences with 'the type of people we need more of.' :-)

In spite of their mother, I'm sure.
I'm sure if there was a good voucher program in place, millions of parents would do exactly that. But since the current system forces them to pay high property taxes for governmnet schools whether or not they send their kids there, millions of kids are trapped in government schools against the wishes of their parents.
The problems I have with the ignorant letter is WHY should
Christians be forced to pay the millevied taxes for the failed public school system -and be required to pay the
extra fees necessary to send their children to a morally upright institution that will not militate against Christianity? That practice was Wrong when impressed upon Catholics and it is just as wrong for others. Also this modern doctrine of Diversity is Strange doctrine indeed that does NOT reconcile to Scripture on that term-Is Christ
divided?Since He is not neither should we be.
Actually, this woman is at least partially right, I think.. Is she referring to a school connected with Grace Chapel, pastored by Gordon MacDonald (in the past, if not now)? I know the church is evangelical and well-respected, and would think the school (if there is one) would be also.
The world is changing not at all, never mind "so fast".
I wonder if she will feel the same if her young son ends up walking the gay streets turning tricks for his heroine habit, which a growing number of these publicly schooled, pre conditioned "gay is ok" kids are doing. Their "customers, who trip all over themselves for the 17 year old and younger ones, are the gays who fought so hard to force the schools to train her children to work in the perverted sex industry. A sick perverted pedophiles dream come true, lawfull, willing pre-conditioned victims.
You aren't "born gay" but you sure can be conditioned to be.

I did a google search and came up with Lexington Christian Academy...and I found the "diversity lovers' strategy for preventing the Christian school from expanding....
Reservoir Watershed Warning

I am a town meeting member in Lexington, Precinct One and I have been actively involved in protecting my neighborhood from potential flooding and pollution due to the fact that the Lexington Christian Academy (LCA) plans to build a massive addition onto their existing school. The Lexington Christian Academy is located at the end of Bartlett Ave. in Lexington. The Arlington Reservoir could be affected.
Let me explain: The Lexington Christian Academy is built in the Wetlands. It was built before the Wetlands Act was passed. The school is surrounded by water on three sides. One of the bodies of water is the Munroe Brook [sometimes called North Brook] that flows into the Arlington Reservoir [see Great Meadows Map and Res Area Topo Map]. It is also built in a hundred year flood plain. This area is subject to massive flooding because it is the catch basin to Whipple Hill. As you are aware, Whipple Hill is a very steep hill. In times of heavy rain the bottom of Bartlett Ave catches the storm water run off. In 1996, we had a large amount of rain which flooded our neighborhood. We had raw sewage that filled the street and backed up into some neighbors' homes. When this area gets flooded the excess water continues to flow down into the Arlington Reservoir. Hence...a potential health issue for Arlington residents.
The present plans for LCA is to have a roof run off the is a half acre in size. The total foot print is approximately 33,000 sq ft. A roof is an impervious surface. The size a weight of the building alone will only force the water into surrounding areas. (Our neighborhood and homes and the Arlington Reservoir). They also plan to have a sewer pumping station under the parking lot which I personally don't understand how that could be because they want to lower the existing parking lot by 2 inches to act as a catch basin for all this water. How can you have a sewer pumping station under a parking lot that is going to be used to hold water? The school has cut down almost every tree in the area to make their soccer field. Between the size of this structure and the parking lot there is no more Wetland. Only common sense makes you wonder where all this water will go.
I could go on and on but don't have the time right now.
The present situation is that the neighborhood has filed an appeal with the DEP and we have been ordered to have the two engineering firms meet. The judge delayed out a couple of issues that he would like us to focus on. One of them is the potential flooding to the bordering vegetative wetlands and the other is riverfront issues.
I think it would behoove the town of Arlington to stay interested in this issue.

Perversions of the soul are not "diversity", they are perversions. Perhaps this lady would want to try eating manure as a main entree if the local restaurant decided that poop is good food - if she truly believes in the "richness of diversity", she would have no choice.
