Sounds like the Star Tribune, which we used to take on Sunday only. We got a call asking if we'd take the Saturday at half price and said no. A month later, we were offered the Thursday and Friday free, is we would take the half priced Saturday and the full priced Sunday. We said OK, but only if they tossed in a free Wednesday and they agreed.
I always wondered if their circulation dept. reported our papers as part of their base for advertising rates or as give-aways.

The San Jose Mercury News was calling me approximately 6 times per year over a period of 3 years. In addition, they were coming to my door about as frequently. One time, they came two days in a row. On the second day, i told the guy, "go back to your boss, and tell him if anyone from the paper calls me or comes to my house ever again I will file harrassment charges against the SJMN". That was that.
