Maybe this is the Lord's way of serving it.

Till had to be dumber than a box of rocks…I am white and I would not whistle at or make suggestive remarks to a woman that I did not know. ..A lot people today suffer a** kickings and are killed today for that very thing…Go into to any black section of any city and say something today and see what happens to you?

Yes, you might very well get your *ss kicked. Were Tillis white, he might have too. But that’s not what happened here. After the incident was over he was kidnapped, detained, and murdered. It wasn’t an act of passion, rather clearly pre-meditated with crystal clear racial motivation.

Justice will only be served in this case by the Lord. The only thing which can be served now is creating racial hatred...I have a real problem with people going back and trying to create a new crime just to stir up hate.

New crime? He's dead, it's one crime.

As to God's justice, which isn't relevant here, I'd review Genesis 9:6. No matter what translation you use, the meaning is clear.

My guess simply to establish a legal cause of death so that the accomplices can be charged.

That would be my guess too. There is no statute of limitations for murder.

I just said he was an idiot!

Someone should have offed these pigs after they admitted doing it.. if I had been a family member.....

If you had been a family member, in that era, you would have been hunted down and hung from the nearest tree.

And there may have been more than two people involved. If so, they should be brought to justice.

Well I have said it before but it bears repeating. The FBI and all police agencies don't have the resources to investigate many crimes.

There are probably hundreds of thousands of crimes which would benefit from additional investigation far more than trying to see if there might be a living 90 year old accomplice in a crime 55 years ago.

Of course these don't carry the outrage or publicity that any racial crime does. Oops I should have said any crime committed agains Blacks. Outrage over racial crimes committed against Whites are, to quote Shakespeare, "oft interred with their bones".

Is there a double standard? More than that, there are two standards.

That's why they left the state.

It certainly sounds that way. Guess we're supposed to ignore that. After all, don't want to bring any "pressure" to bear. I think I've heard that before.

"Your fathers will turn over in their graves if [Milam and Bryant are found guilty] and I'm sure that every last Anglo-Saxon one of you has the courage to free these men in the face of that pressure."
Defense attorney John C. Whitten

I asked you in 54 and 59 if Kenneth Hansen should be freed. If you do fine, if not, you're right, two standards being proposed here, one for a dead white kid, one for dead black kid.

BTW, both the FBI and most major police departments have cold case specialists who've reinvestigated thousands of crimes. In this case, the evidence was developed outside law enforcement and brought to them. They can't ignore it.

They can't ignore it.

Of course they can ignore so called evidence from a private source in a 55 year old crime in which those accused are dead. They not only could, they should.

Why would you want her to reply to a complete non-sequitor? I can see no relationship at all betweent the cases except they are both old, and the difference between a 40 and 55 year old case are huge. In one most people involved are still around and in the other most would likely be dead.

It is clearly a case of selective outrage. My Grandmother's 12 year old first cousin was raped and murdered by three Black Men. The men were shot dead by a mob. That was wrong but hardly makes them heroes. There are web sites commemorating those threee. The only monument to the litle girl is a slab of granite. I remember a few years ago when a beautiful little four year old was raped and murdered by a Black man. I still recall seeing the little tricycle she had been riding. It hardly made the news in South Mississippi. I doubt if it was reported at all outside the state.

I wonder if 55 years from now there will be an investigation to see if there might have been others involved.

(Except to excite more racial tensions)...."

Exactly.

"Well, maybe there will be new witnesses come forth."

And I'll bet a lot of them were born after 1955.

I never defended Till getting himself killed. Let's look at your statement:

Defended Till getting himself killed.

Till didn't get himself killed. Some raving loon-kook-moonbat, racist pieces of sh!t murdered him. He was murdered by cowardly bigots. You seem to have a hard time with that one. You refuse to admit he was murdered; instead you say he got himself killed.

You are sick.

He was murdered by crazy bigots. He did not, as you say, "get himself killed". I guess then, according to your turn of phrase, that no one is murdered; they are just people that get themselves killed, right?

I recently studied this case in a college course on Southern history. The boy, age 14 at the time, acting on a dare from some friends whistled at the woman and called her "babe". That evening, a group of white men arrived at his grandfather's house and abducted him in full view of his family. During the trial, his grandfather was able to identify at least two of his abductors, but the jury still returned a not-guilty verdict.

I'm sorry for the loss. If you or your family developed credible evidence, I'd expect it to be acted on. Why do you think it should be ignored? Needless to say it's more likely that will happen in high profile cases.

Essentially you're arguing for a statute of limitations on murder, lots of countries have them, greater than 40 years (Hansen), but less than 50 (Till).
