>That's like excluding unsaved people from church.<

I don't know any church that excludes anyone who is not disrupptive from attending but only believers may be members and leaders.Their is a difference.

My former pastor would ask you to leave if you were talking and distracting others. Colonel R.B Thieme, one of the best Bible teachers ever.

Well, the word "church" has become corrupted to mean a place where people go on Sunday. Some are Christians, some are not, but they go to 'church.' The Bible's definition of a church is those who have been saved, born again, and are dedicated worshipers of God...God's family. Sounds like what this minister is trying to do is tell his people, 'if you're not following Godly principles then you don't belong here.' But it's not for him to say that if you voted one way or the other you're not saved. Lots of folks are being sanctified, and that's a long progression at times. I say he's out of line here. I think if he teaches scripture and teaches it faithfully those who don't support Christians tenants will just leave automatically.

Thank you, and agreed.

The AP needs to buy a clue, as usual.

Goodbye tax-exempt status!!

Big deal. Let 'em render to Caesar. I'd like to see a church show some faith instead of blaming the tax laws for their lack of it.

"I wonder how accurately this is being reported."
As they say in Pennsylvania, "So don't I!" ^_^

<< I wonder how accurately this is being reported. >>

THANK YOU.

It never fails to astonish me: when FReepers like a story from AP or Reuters, they immediately forget EVERYTHING we've learned about the MSM, and jump all over it.

And of course typical AP -- couldn't find one word to explain the pastor's stance, and couldn't locate one member who supported him.

Dan

does anyone know if the SCOTUS has ever decided a case involving "tax exemption" and a "church" ?

An honest tax collector and a forner prostitute with positive volition towards God's grace and revelation.. And the LJC didn't "hang out" with anybody unless you think a teacher "hangs out" with his students in class.

I'm sorry but it is a bit irksome when people diminish the nobility of the Lord and make himout to be the hippie-dippie dude from Galilee.

"Christ hung out with a tax collector and prostitute."

True, but He required that they "repent" of their sins.
He did not tolerate the prostitutes declaring "diversity or sexual orientation, etc." as excuses for their sinful activities.

I am under the impression that this passage refers to marriage.

One former church member says Chandler told some of the members that if they didn't support George Bush, they needed to resign their positions and get out of the church, or go to the altar, repent and agree to vote for Bush.

I'll bet those weren't his exact words...but if they were, they should leave because he's a nut.

When these churches become 501C-3 IRS certified they become just another soulless corporation being led by another odorless, colorless gov't approved preacher who will NEVER speak the truth about the fedgov lest risking his precious tax exemption.

Yet another reason to repeal the 16th Amendment.
