From what I've read, the addicts grind it up and sometimes snort it or chew the pill. Which is supposed to give them a much bigger high.
I've often heard it called "Hillbilly Heroin".

My daughter was prescribed Oxycontin for a ruptured disc. The side effects were horrible. She lasted about 2 days and the Dr. pulled her off.
