If you are talking about Afleet Alex, he was in the money, and I understand the purse was doubled this year. No reason for tears. Alex's charity benefits, thank God!

"I always pick the grays too."

I see I should have hit Zpel Check before posting. I thought gray was spelled grey. Ooops. Another word that is spelled in an irritating way.

I also can't zpel the word sign. It should be spelled s-i-g-h-n.
(The correct spelling seems like it would be pronounced si-gun if there isn't an "h" added to it, but nobody listens to me .LOL. OK, I'm finished with today's nit-pick moment.)

I did bet $2 on Giacomo. Does anyine think he has a shot at the Triple Crown?

"if they run him in the preakness, Alex would be the favorite."

Yes, he will be. I doubt Giancamo can repeat, but I hope he does because I want to see a tc winner. I will, despite his poor performance today, stick with Bandini.

"Was Monarchos a bob-tailed nag? If only one "grey" has won the Derby then what's up with the "Grey Theory"?"

It's the same as the 3 theory. Honestly, if you watch tvg as much as I do, the greys do seem to be in the money alot.

That's because the greys are aliens.

Ha! High Limit was my longshot pick, because of the jock.
Usually for me picking the jock (when on a longshot)pays off, but not today.

Keep an eye, in other races, on Corey Nakatani. I have seen him bring in many longshots.

I think there is somthing in the song about "somebody bet on the grey," but in my case, I bet two dollars on Giacomo in honor of my late grandma, who would only bet on the gray horse. She swore by this method of handicapping. It paid off for me today :-)

No, I was talking about the trainer, Nick Zito. He was really tore up.

heh.... the ponies are a great way to fine tune the practice of being 'led by the Spirit'. NO kidding!

"I thought Don't Get Mad ran an impressive race, but it was only one week ago. If you subscribe to the "bet on the grey" theory Giacomo would be the horse."

Had you actually picked Giacamo, I would have bought you something on ebay. Damn! I should have "bet the grey," because it is a decent bet when in doubt.

It seems no one bet Giacamo here, or Closing Argument.
If we find out otherwise, we should pay *homage* to the betters.

We did pick the losers quite well, didn't we?

Are you serious? If this is actually true, I will buy you something valued at $10 on ebay to pay *homage* to you. Or maybe you should buy me something!

I think most people bet on the greys because they're the easiest to spot in the pack ;~D

"Seems nobody listened to Mike Smith when he said he had a possible winner. Gotta Love It."

My uncle did, based on that interview. He has been searching frantically for the ticket to prove this to me.

Aside from the race itself, it is nice to hear the beautiful Kentucky Home being played and sung. BUT------ why does the camera have to focus on those women. Not one was worthy of the moment! Was that a can of beer that one of them had---and took a swig???

Yes, zelig noticed it was a can of Coors Light (free advertising for them!). Can you imagine being all dolled up in a beautiful hat at the esteemed Kentucky Derby, then caught on national (international?) television swiggin' a can of beer?! LOL

"I have a $20 EXB 12,16 that cost $40.00 (betting slip from the local track)
I have no idea if having the show horse AFLEET ALEX in the box means I'm in the money..."

You lost $40. Exacta box means you pick the top two, in any order.

I thought Giacomo ran a pretty good race, and looked strong finishing. I hope he can get the Preakness, just because it makes for more excitement in the Belmont if a horse is going for the TC.

I do think Afleet Alex ran a good race for third. I'm sure traffic was a factor. I don't think as many horses will enter the Preakness, so it will be a completely different setting than the KD. They sure set some blazing fractions in this race, which was also a factor in Giacomo's win. It will be interesting to see what happens, and who goes on to the Preakness.

Was Fusaichi Samuri trained by Zito? Did you see his first race? He won by about 20 lengths. Then got injured, that's why he wasn't here. If he were, he probably would have won, my little stud muffin! I'll watch for him in the next Breeder's cup.
