HAPPY MOTHERS DAY, remembering Mom...

Could it have really been 25 years since I kissed my Mom good night? How could that be, it seems like only yesterday? Her memory is still fresh, her wonderful smile is vivid in my mind. I can still feel the tenderness of her kiss on my cheek, and I can recall everything she whispered to me as I held her close... Could it have been so long ago...

I still remember you Mom... each and every time I say good night to the kids on a holiday... I kiss them once more just for you...

I still remember you Mom... every time I see my sons and daughters and hold and kiss my grandchildren... I still think of you holding me...

I still remember you Mom...in oh so many ways...  more than ever, tonight...... tears

A Mother

A mother held her new baby and very slowly rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while she held him, she sang:

I'll love you forever
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
My baby you'll be.

The baby grew. He grew and he grew and he grew. He grew until he was two years old, and he ran all around the house. He pulled all the books off the shelves. He pulled all the food out of the refrigerator and he took his mother's watch and flushed it down the toilet. Sometimes his mother would say, "This kid is driving me CRAZY!"

But at night time, when that two-year-old was quiet, she opened the door to his room, crawled across the floor, looked up over the side of his bed; and if he was really asleep she picked him up and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. While she rocked him she sang:

I'll love you forever
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
My baby you'll be.

The little boy grew. He grew and he grew and he grew. he grew until he was nine years old. And he never wanted to come in for dinner, he never wanted to take a bath, and when grandma visited he always said bad words. Sometimes his mother wanted to sell him to the zoo!

But at night time, when he was asleep, the mother quietly opened the door to his room, crawled across the floor and looked up over the side of the bed. If he was really asleep, she picked up that nine-year-old boy and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while she rocked him she sang:

I'll love you forever
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
My baby you'll be.

The boy grew. he grew and he grew and he grew. He grew until he was a teenager. He had strange friends and he wore strange clothes and he listened to strange music. Sometimes the mother felt like she was in a zoo!

But at night time, when that teenager was asleep, the mother opened the door to his room, crawled across the floor and looked up over the side of the bed. If he was really asleep she picked up that great big boy and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. While she rocked him she sang:

I'll love you forever
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
My baby you'll be.

That teenager grew. He grew and he grew and he grew. He grew until he was a grown-up man. He left home and got a house across town.

But sometimes on dark nights the mother got into her car and drove across town. If all the lights in her son's house were out, she opened his bedroom window, crawled across the floor, and looked up over the side of his bed. If that great big man was really asleep she picked him up and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while she rocked him she sang:

I'll love you forever
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
My baby you'll be.

Well, that mother, she got older. She got older and older and older. One day she called up her son and said, "You better come see because I'm very old and sick."

So her son came to see her. When he came in the door she tried to sing the song. She sang:

I'll love you forever
I'll like you for always....

But she couldn't finish because she was too old and sick.

The son went to his mother. He picked her up and rocked her back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And he sang this song:

I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
My Mommy you'll be.

When the son came home that night, he stood for a long time at the top of the stairs. Then he went into the room where his very new baby daughter was sleeping.

He picked her up in his arms and very slowly rocked her back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while he rocked her he sang:

I'll love you forever
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
My baby you'll be.

To all of our FReeperland women and girls, I have a confession to make in this time and place.. you hold a special place in my heart. Each and every one of you teaches me how much I cherish the differences between us, and how much we men, especially me, needs to have you in our lives..

I'm not much for quoting scripture and even less about preaching, but I know that GOD meant for you to possess a special power, a inner warmth, a depth of love that we mere mortal men, need so very much. I also know that we fail so miserably to express our feelings of love and appreciation for your presence in our otherwise lonely and shallow life..

So for my confession.. I don't care if your husband or boyfriend knows it either....
to each of you...

I LOVE YOU.. and thank you for just being you..
HUGGG  and KISSSSSssssssssssssssss.. Carlo

It's been 29 years since my mom died and about 14 month's since my kid's mom, my wife of 29 years, died. I miss them both every day but today a bit moreso.

Happy Mother's day to all the women who have given birth to or raised children. There is no way to pay you or thank you adequately.

Thank you for the Mother's Day sentiments, Carlo. Very moving.

How fortunate we are that beautiful, sentimental words are still written in an increasingly jaded and coarse world.

Happy Mother's Day to all freeper moms. Y'all should be getting your breakfast in bed about this time, LOL.

My Mom at 75 is doing great!

A couple of weeks ago, a teenaged boy accosted her

while she was sitting on a park bench reading. He

made some filthy remarks to her, reading from a

paper, probably as a dare from another teenaged

boy who accompanied him.

When my 5 foot tall Mother told him to buzz off,

he put his hand on her.

She sprang up, grabbed him by the collar, drew him

in and put the kid in a headlock. She choked the

crap out of him! (Later, I asked for a

demonstration, and my eyes almost popped out of my

head!)

The kid gasped for help from his friend, who was

too in awe of my Mother to intervene. Finally, my

Mother let go, and the kid wheeled around and spit

on her.

She replied: "I'll remember you! If I ever see you

again, I'll crack your F***ing head wide open like

an egg!"

This event prompted me to get my Mother a cell

phone for 911 purposes. I want her to call the

cops before she kills someone in self-defence!

What a grand old dame she is!

She mused that "I betcha that kid thinks twice

before he messes with a gray-haired old lady

again!"
