Auto Plant Forces Workers Who Own Fords, GMs To Walk
The Indy Channel ^ | May 9, 2005 | AP

KOKOMO, Ind. -- Workers at DaimlerChrysler's Indiana Transmission Plants I and II better allow more time for parking if they drive Fords or General Motors vehicles.

A new policy that took effect Monday designates about 80 percent of employee parking spaces at the plants for Chrysler vehicles only.

It forces workers to park much farther away if they drive a car or truck made by a competing manufacturer.

Workers have been told that non-Chrysler vehicles parked in the reserved areas will be towed to Indianapolis at a cost of $200.

A Chrysler spokesman saud most Chrysler plants across the country have similar parking policies.

But nine-year employee Bill Parks, who drives a Pontiac, considers it harassment. He said he's being punished for exercising his freedom of choice.

Gee, a guy buys a used chevy and then hires in and they expect him to show loyalty to the company when they start this stuff?

my 97 dodge ram pick up is on its second tranmission. Odds are the chrysler product will actually NEED a tow before a ford or chevy.

I says a lot about the quality of the products they are making when a considerable number of their employees drive the competition's vehicles.

I actually don't have a problem with this.

It's not the Government. Daimler Chrysler can do whatever they want.

I'm torn between the idiocy of it and the businesses' right to execute policy as they see fit.

If I had an employee and they decided to carry around another chef's business cards, I'd be a bit put out, to say the least. I can certainly understand their point of view.

As far as company loyalty goes, if the 9-year guy isn't driving a company-made vehicle, what does that say?

Ok, so now can employees deduct the cost of a new Chrysler as a work-related expense?

Alright....I think it's time to put the adults back in-charge and send the kids back to the sand boxes.

I understand but it's usually a good idea to check around the sidebars first. A search with your title would have brought up the other thread about 6 down from the top.

#2. That may be true, although I had family who worked for Ford when I was growing up and it always rusted out before Chevy. Besides, I still find it hard to give even one cent to a Ford...they have betrayed American interests in their support of all things Communist/leftist.

JAPANIZATION of American auto workers is in full bore.

IOW, worship your employer or find another.

What's next?? Food? Clothes?
If you work at 'Perdue Chicken' can you eat a hamburger in their break room?
If you work at Wal-Mart will you be stipped naked at the time clock if you wear an 'Old Navy' brand shirt?
What if you work for "Panasonic" but own a Sony TV??

Oh wait a minute, this is just about premium parking spots......

nevermind.

From what I've heard, it's always been this way at some or all of the big 3 mfrs. Drive an American competor's car and you park in the far lots. Drive a foreign car and you not only park in the far, far lots but also chance vandalism.

Isn't there a promotion with car dealers and a ball team for better parking spaces for a certain brand cars? I thought I remember seeing that.

Give these foreigners that own Daimler Chrysler the freedom of decision and see what restrictions are imposed upon the natives.

...following such great cars as the Renault Alliance and the last iteration of the Chevy Caprice.
