OK question to all that believe homos can be treated of thier 'disease.' Would you be OK with your sister or daughter getting invovled with a reformed/cured homo. I sure as hell wouldn't

I always wondered why gay men always congregate around those awful foul smelling public restrooms. Maybe if they bulldozed a few of them or cleaned them they would not be

I am well acquainted with one "reformed" homosexual who has chosen to remain celibate the rest of his life. He does not want to be attracted to men as a Christian, but women just aren't doing it for him.

Pheromones, which also trigger defense mechanisms...

Nothing psychological here, at all...must be biological...even though when I smell manicotti, I am transported through my memories to the times my mom made it...

I think you've just proved the opposite point you were going for. It's pretty well established that alcoholism has a genetic predisposition. Anyone can sample a beer, an alcoholic will prefer it over everything else. You can choose to stop the behavior but a true alcoholic will become one after their first drink.

I was talking about acquired tastes, not alcoholism. Even alcoholics usually do not enjoy their first taste of beer.

My bet is that a lot of "gay" men are gay because their first sexual experience was homosexual. Which is exactly why gay child molesters are so despicable.

It's certainly true that sexuality is one of the easiest responses to classically condition, which is why people are able to develop all sorts of bizarre foot fetishes, urine fetishes, underwear fetishes, etc. If a thirteen-year-old boy has his first sexual pleasure with a man, it won't take much to condition him to respond to homosexual types of stimuli. Let's face it, the average 13-year-old responds pretty easily to everything and nothing, so he's not a tough case to condition.

Many years ago I worked at a social service agency, a community mental health clinic, and a lot of the gays who came in did report that they were seduced as children and felt that had turned them.

Correlation is not causation, so the only way I would believe a study like this demonstrates a genetic predisposition to homosexual behavior is if they were able to evoke the positive response in very little children who subsequently grew up to be gay. And it's pretty hard to envision a longitudinal study constructed like that.

Uhh, I'm not gay and I like the scent of women.

Or did I just misunderstand the title?

The simplest explanation that fits ALL the facts. If the facts are complex, the explanation will be complex.

The facts of homosexuality are only complex if you have an agenda.

"12 heterosexual men, 12 homosexual men, and 12 heterosexual women."

And look at the size of the sample. How can this many people tell anyone, anything????? This study is essentially meaningless.

Sexual preference, like handedness, appears not to be genetic - at least in the classical sense like eye color. Both conditions may the result of environmental factors in the womb and, interestingly, may be related. A compendium of the medical research literature on the subject is at www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov

The left is going to use this as an argument that homosexuality is not a choice but something you are since birth. Here's my point. How many people like beer the first time they taste it? But, how many salivate from the thought of a tall cold draft beer now? Some things are acquired likings.

I think you've just proved the opposite point you were going for. It's pretty well established that alcoholism has a genetic predisposition. Anyone can sample a beer, an alcoholic will prefer it over everything else. You can choose to stop the behavior but a true alcoholic will become one after their first drink.

The predisposition is not to become alcoholic, but for certain enzyme reactions to misbehave when alcohol is present in the system.

To become alcoholic, you have to drink. You have to drink again, and you have to continue to drink.

Merely wondering if you are gay does not make you gay. It is the repeated consideration, then acting it out that makes one addicted to the behavior.

Should we form a "Alcoholism is OK" crowd and have them go to schools telling kids its OK to drink to excess and live a life of booze?

Let me get this right, if a bunch of gay guys are standing around in a room with no ventilation and one of them lets a big juicy one rip, they all get feeling erotic towards each other...?
