Pearl Harbor survivor Houston James of Dallas is overcome with emotion as he embraces Marine Staff Sgt. Mark Graunke Jr. during the Dallas Veterans Day Commemoration at Dallas City Hall on Thursday. Thanks for the ping...amazing picture...good for all of us to remember those sacrifices made and being made for our continued freedoms.

A stark reminder that freedom isn't free.

I don't care how many body parts the Marine lost, he's still 10 times the man Clinton will ever be.

I once read in the Times about a guy somewhere out near Palmdale, who raises horses, who lost both legs, an arm and an eye to a mine in Vietnam.

In early '69 an infantry medic and myself patched a up a guy with the same injuries and got him onto a dustoff, and heard later he'd survived.

I've always wondered if that was they same guy.

If he's happy, it's one of the best things I've ever done.

Belated thanks for the ping and these incredible photos, FMC . If anyone says there was a dry eye among any of the freepers on this post I won't believe it. Major goosebumps and how blessed we all are to have such magnificent heroes keeping us all safe. I want to know why these photos were not on the front page of every newspaper in this country. Sadly, I already know.

Prayers for all our troops, for those who lead them and those who wait for them. We will never forget you and your sacrifices for us. Thank you.
