Actually, a small plane packed with C4 would have to be extraordinarily lucky to do serious damage to the White House.
The White House is a pretty large building, and there are hardened parts to it.
Explosives can do alot of damage, but usually only in the immediate vicinity, planning for and using them takes alot of thought and practice.

In my building, everyone - male or female - is encouraged to keep a pair of comfortable, sturdy walking shoes in their cubicle, mainly in case of earthquake, which might put down heavy debris and require people to walk home.
The plane came from Lancaster, Co. Pa. I lived in the adjacent county of York, PA. Lancaster is about a 2-1/2 hr drive from DC. Not far by air.
Mostly it devolves to the prerogatives to hobby pilots and GA lobbies. I wonder who was relying on this Newly Famous pilot?
At least when Fox News terrorist expert was asked about the Senator's charges that they have no evacuation plans, he mentioned that they could be using this as a "political" jab. He doubts that there has never been any talk of evacuation plans....
