LOS ANGELES A former Chicago strip-club owner and White House guest of the Clintons testified yesterday that Hillary Rodham Clinton's then-top fund-raiser planned to lie about the true cost of a star-studded gala for her Senate campaign.
"The cost of this event will never be the cost of this event," prosecution witness James Levin quoted David Rosen, Clinton's former national fund-raising director, as once telling him.
Levin, a Clinton donor, onetime owner of "Thee Doll House" go-go bar, said Rosen's statement meant "we would never admit what we spent" on the spectacular 2000 gala, held at a 112-acre Brentwood estate, with stars that included Cher, Diana Ross, John Travolta, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston.
Rosen is on trial in federal court here on three charges of concealing campaign contributions by grossly underreporting the costs of the event.
He has pleaded not guilty. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $225,000 fine.
Under federal election rules, the more the fund-raising event cost, the less money Clinton's Senate campaign would have left to spend on the election itself. Prosecutors say the bill for the gala came in at more than $1 million not the $400,000 reported to the FEC.
In his opening statement, Rosen's lawyer said the gala's price tag was hidden from Rosen by its organizers, Peter Paul and Aaron Tonken.
Rosen lawyer Paul Sandler warned jurors that Levin, who cut a plea deal with the feds last week to end a bribery/conspiracy case against him, might lie on the stand to reduce his possible sentence of 5 to 20 years.
Levin testified that Rosen, 40, was involved in almost every decision about the fund-raiser from the transportation problems of the stars to the director's chairs given away to contributors.

It cost $35,000 for special directors chairs, $50,000 to build the stage, $90,000 for invitations, and $50,000 for gift bags.
Hmmmm.......those are outsized figures.
Maybe Rosen was dipping into the party income for himself.....inflating costs, maybe writing checks to sham businesses that were hidden accounts in his name.
Could be why Rosen's taking the fall for the FEC violations.
Maybe Rosen's scam was deeper than was originally thought----not just an FEC scam at all.
Maybe some of the gala's costs went into Rosen's pockets.
They under-reported how much they spent so they could have more money for campaigning.
Now if they spent the money for the fund-raiser where did the extra money come from for campaigning.
Was it a way to launder illegal funds? And if so where they came from may be interesting.
The IRS, FEC and SEC should determine whether corporate contributors---or individuals posing as corporate contributors---misused corporate reserve accounts, concealed losses, inflated asset values and improperly accounted for transactions, as well as deferring profits into reserve accounts, improperly shifting capital funding to other projects to hide illegal contributions, and so on.
The IRS, FEC and SEC should determine whether there was proper accounting for the activities, whether they were inflating costs, and using income for the purposes stated.
We need to know the extent to which they engaged in Enron-style accounting and spending practices........and whether Global Crossing stock deals ala Terry McAuliffe took place.
Any of these practices could jeopardize the financial interests of stockholders and would compel the SEC to step in.
Anyone with concerns about these issues should contact the SEC here: enforcement@SEC.gov
That's what I'm beginning to wonder. This may have opened up a whole new can o'worms.
All i got to say, what a bunch of DUmmies! They got caught red handed. LOL
Somebody should surf over to FEC and get the forms they filed......and post them here.
Would be so easy for these lowlifes like Rosen to launder $$$.
The way Rosen booked the income and outgo from the gala should be examined with a fine-tooth comb.
Money launders could have been taking place under booked items like admin costs, etc......and all those costs for building and printing, and so on and so forth, ad infinitum, ad nauseaum.
Man, I wanna see those forms, now.
This whole sordid affair proves that even the hollyweirdos had to be paid off to support her candidacy.
I wonder if back when bubba was appointing judges it matter who they were and where they would sit in relation to where to hold the fund raising. Couldn't be he appointed on merit . Right?

Another tawdry tale from The Clinton Chronicles. It wouldn't surprise me if they were laundering money. It's SOP for them and goes back to the days of the Arkansas Mafia. And continues to this day, no doubt.

Congressman Billybob
Levin, who cut a plea deal with the feds last week to end a bribery/conspiracy case against him, might lie on the stand to reduce his possible sentence of 5 to 20 years. Ya gotta love the way that everybody in this case, with the exception of the Clintons themselves, is either under indictment or has already been convicted of some damned thing. Peter Paul, Aaron Tonken, Jim Levin, Ray Reggie, and now David Rosen. All convicted felons, or indicted on multiple felony charges. Yet the Clintons are just so squeaky-clean. They knew nothing about any of this. I mean, at some point you just have to bust out laughing at the way the media tries to protect these two. There sure is a whole lot of smoke around these people; isn't there a reporter anywhere who suspects a fire? |
Nice work, Nick....great site.
We gotta get that on a tee shirt.
Proving that it IS all about her heinous no matter what the judge has to say about it.
The man just can't keep his mouth shut.
The MSM can't see the forest for the trees.......and besides they've all got their heads stuck up the Clintons' backsides.

Final Clinton Campaign Report to the FEC on Event 39 -- July 30, 2001 Andrew Grossman, Treasurer of Hillary Clinton's New York 2000 Senate campaign, filed this third and final FEC report, falsely representing Event 39 expenses as $401,419.03.
Over and above any FEC violaitons, the letter mentions one vendor receiving a federal-designated payment of $100, 000----the vendor was listed as Black Ink Productions. Was that for the $90,000 invitations (snicker)? Where is this vendor located? What other payments did they receive?
I think thats going to be thing that keeps Hill-da-Beast out of the WH. Can you imagine the possibilities of this with the swiftboats style of commercials. And all of the commercials pointing out that the klintoons are counting on YOU to be the stupidest people on the face of this earth to believe that they emerged from this great big pile of horse manure at every freaking turn....and never smelled a thing, and didn't get a speck on them.
Because if you, the voter, can believe that then go ahead and pull the klintoon lever because you are dumber than horse dung and you deserve everything you get.
I definitely think a huge questioning of intelligence is the way to play that. It won't work for the moonbats, but a lot of other potential klintoon lovers may think that maybe there's a little fire with that smoke after all.
