Can we have enough gun control so that IDIOTS don't have guns??

That could have been a senseless tragedy.

This wouldn't have happened if he had a trigger lock. </sarcasm>

That was just stupid. It seems like a good idea to have a kid fingering around with a gun that I am wearing. Do we freepers have something like a dumbass award? If not, can we come up with one? This officer needs one.

"...as the deputy told them how hard it was to take a gun from an officer's holster..."

It becomes orders of magnitude easier, however, once the weapon has been discharged into the officer's leg.

What on earth is going on in this cops mind? A loaded, ready to fire weapon that he invites a student to take away from him as some kind of demonstration. Perhaps the cop needs some remedial training in gun safety and good judgment.

They make special practice firearms (usually blue plastic) for takeaway drills.

This guy was an idiot for using

a) a real firearm
b) a loaded one.

I think the Barney Fife award would be a fitting title.

Make sure we never get this guy and the cop who showed the class how easy it is to make meth together in the same room. God only knows what they'd manage to do.

The article doesn't make it clear whether he "invited" the kid to try to take the gun, or if it was the kid's own idea. I suppose that will be a part of the investigation.

I would think they also make dummy plastic cartridges, for use in demonstrations of loading/unloading techniques. There was certainly no reason to have live rounds in the gun, for any demonstration that was going to be happening in the classroom.

OMG, there are some real fools out there. Having a kid take your gun??? Having a loaded gun on when you are demonstrating for kids??? There are somethings I just don't quite comprehend.
