Hyundai customers say no to Howard Stern.

Report: Automaker's customers don't want Sirius because they don't want to listen to the shock jock.

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - A surprising number of Hyundai customers said they didn't want Sirius Satellite Radio installed in their vehicles because they objected to Howard Stern, according to an auto news Web site.

The so-called "shock jock" will broadcast on Sirius (up $0.08 to $5.33, Research) Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. beginning in January 2006, said Inside Line, an online news source that is part of Edmunds.com. Edmunds.com is a partner in CNN.com's automotive news and information channels.

Hyundai recently surveyed 300 to 400 customers as it was deciding whether to choose XM (down $0.10 to $28.14, Research) or Sirius Satellite Radio in as an option for its vehicles. Hyundai ultimately decided to go with XM.

The automaker will roll out a fall program that offers 90 days of free satellite radio programming with its new models, starting with the Santa Fe SUV, and the Sonata and Azera sedans, according to Edmunds.

John Krafcik, Hyundai vice president of product development and strategic planning, told Inside Line that executives were stunned by the number of "unprompted write-ins" on the survey that said customers were "not comfortable with programming from Stern."

Other automakers, like DaimlerChrysler (up $0.67 to $40.08, Research), still install the Sirius system.

In other words, this has nothing to do with Hyundai customers and everything to do with some nut job pressure group that needs to get a life.

...in other news, multi-millionaire, self-proclaimed "King of All Media" radio personality Howard Stern has climbed back on his cross. "When will the persecution end?", he was heard to say as he suckled a champagne-soaked sponge.

Dear killjoy,

Having participated in these kinds of surveys, I think what is meant by the article is that these answers were given by the actual Hyundai buyers surveyed. My impression is that these Hyundai customers were writing answers into a field marked something like, "Other."

Thus, there was no question that had as a possible answer, "I would not prefer a Sirius satellite radio because Sirius features Howard Stern." Rather, under a question something like, "Why do you prefer XM to Sirius?", large numbers of respondents actually wrote in, unprompted, their disapproval of or dissatisfaction with Mr. Stern's presence on Sirius.

Just my guess.

In other news, a survey of internet postings shows that Howard Stern fans suffer from reading comprehension problems.

"Hyundai recently surveyed 300 to 400 customers "

Howard should get a life.

The Iman should get a life.

People in the 'red states', IMO, barely watch TV anymore. It's full of 'junk' and the commercials are riddled with "junk' erection ads.

People don't want this in their homes of which the auto is an extension.

BTW, if you are a Howard fan, you should get a life.

So don't listen/watch it. If someone else wants to, that is their choice.

The worst innovation in television has been the institution of "pop-up" ads during the show. When an ad obscures the bottom third of the screen, I hit the button on the remote.

There is absolutely no evidence in the story for your assertion.

More proof that behind every great man and some lucky jerk$ (Stern) is a greater woman.

Or maybe it's people who just don't like the jerk. What people see in him, I don't know. Maybe they're all as demented as he is.

Stern was the reason I signed up with XM, not Sirius. By the way, the Blues and Country channels are terrific.

Are you sure she didn't leave him? That POS only has money going for him and she made a substantial withdraw before she left.

Interesting, I never thought of it this way but if I ever do may the jump to satelite radio, XM now has a leg up.

I don't listen to stern, why waste the space for a channel.

competition is good. I could just see the marketing campaign "we don't have howard"
