Taking illegals for a spin [Mulshine exposes NJ GOP Chair as a dastardly RINO!]

Taking illegals for a spin

I got a press release the other day from one of those liberal interest groups. The release called for New Jersey to start issuing driver's licenses to illegal aliens....

...Following is the release. Notice how the writer artfully makes a radical idea seem acceptable to mainstream Americans. I am an expert in decoding political spin, so I have put in brackets my explanations of just how the spin doctor operates. Here goes:

"The REAL ID Act of 2005 has now been passed by both houses of Congress and is poised for the President's signature. New Jersey must begin to move now to enact legislation taking advantage of the provisions of the Act. (Hmmm. We already meet the standards; what is he talking about?) ...

..."Driving privilege cards (driver's licenses for illegals) are legal under the REAL ID Act of 2005 and New Jersey should move quickly to join the other eleven states that offer these privileges ... By enacting the kind of legislation allowed under the REAL ID Act of 2005, we will send the message that we are committed to meeting the needs of the economy and protecting the rights of those who reside here legally while promoting compassion for unprotected workers. (Unprotected from what? The law?)"

I bet you're wondering who the left-wing liberal wacko is who wrote this press release. None other than state Republican Party chairman Tom Wilson, that's who.

When I got it on Wednesday, I looked around for a calendar. Nope, April Fool's Day had passed. Wilson was serious. I gave him a call. He confirmed that he did indeed send out the release and that he does support giving illegal aliens driver's licenses.

The article has to be excerpted but it's worth reading to understand the whole underhandedness of it.

I haven't donated to the NJ GOP since they turned their back on Bret Schundler in the 2001 election.  When they call, I heap scorn on the poor caller.  Now I have more fuel for the fire!  Wilson needs to be ousted.

Please fellow FReepers.... Have pity on us conservatives in New Jersey.

The entire old line NJ GOP machine MUST be removed if you want anything to change in New Jersey politics.

The entrenched GOP "Leaders" are as vinal and self-serving as the Democrats, Donnie D. sand bagged Bret Schundler because "it was his turn" he is just as dirty as McGreevy, thak God Schundler kept him out of office or the present Democratic troubles would be Republican.

A complete house cleaning is need to establish a real Republican Party in New Jersey, Bret Schundler seems to be the beginning.

It was a good article pointing out some political spin and getting to the facts until near the end.

Why make the completely unsupported assertion that Rove is behind this? Has this guy been reading the New York Times to much, and started buying into the theory that Rove is behind everything that happens? Even if he does believe it, why make the jump from an article dissecting the facts to an unsupported claim? It doesn't help his credibility.

I have to agree with you. Mulshine has a habit of adding a gratuitous slap at the Bush administration any chance he gets.

Since Mulshine was one of the people who helped open my political eyes years ago, I cut him some extra slack but yes, it is wearisome.

Steve Lonegan will hold a news conference at 12 noon Monday to protest proposed “driving privilege” licenses so illegal aliens can drive cars “legally.”

Lonegan will also urge State Republican Chairman Tom Wilson to withdraw his support for the “driving privilege” driver’s license for illegal aliens. Lonegan will also urge the other six Republican candidates to join him in opposition to this legislation.

Lonegan has been outspoken in opposition to illegal immigration and especially providing welfare benefits and other government services to those in this country illegally. “Illegal aliens should be rounded up and deported. We should not be giving them drivers licenses, driving privilege cards or anything else besides a one-way ticket to the border.”

New Jersey attracts many illegal aliens, for some reason. A number of Muslim terrorists have already been rounded up in Jersey City.

This is mild. Jersey City was where WTC '93 and '01 were plotted.

Jersey City, home to:

- A large, multinational Islamic community

- The Al-Salaam Mosque

- Ahmed Amin Refai

- Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman

- Ramzi Yousef's Apartment

- Ramzi Yousef's storage facility that was converted into a bomb making factory

I really would like to hear Schundler address this. If these points shouldn't be a concern, I would like someone to explain why to me.

Who cares about a hundred thousand killers strolling into America to rape and murder?

As long as businesses can break the law with impunity and hire dirt cheap labor, that's all that matters.

We pay the highest car insurance in the country, and for what? The politicians are in the pocket of the car insurance companies and trial lawyers lobby, the politicians won't require illegals to have car insurance, and with NJ's insurance and civil laws in the state, the citizen who is a victim of an illegal in a car accident, will have to pay for the illegal's medical claims, civil lawsuits, car repairs, then have his insurance premiums skyrocket until his insurance company cancels him, then will have to pay out the arse for years (thanks Mcgreevey, it's now 5 years) for the points on his license, to an insurance company with predatory underwriting practices!!

String em up!

My suggestion is that you and the two other conservatives in New Jersey leave immediately and move to a real red state where you will be represented by a conservative Republican - Kansas would be a place to consider.

That, or go through with my plan to let Sussex, Warren, and Morris Counties secede (other counties can join if they "qualify"!) to form their own state. We can call it Jersey Highlands or something like that.

Jersey has been the gateway to America for immigrants, legal and illegal, for over a century. It should be mentioned that NJ also has the highest median income foreign born population in the US.

We should consider ourselves lucky that the illegals tend to settle in cities that no sensible person would want to live in (Plainfield, Newark, Elizabeth, etc.).
