A healthier social network for students
The Washington Times ^ | 5-16-05 | Kate Tsubata

A friend just passed me a report I urge all parents to read: "Chains of Affection: The Structure of Adolescent Romantic and Sexual Networks," by Peter S. Bearman, James Moody and Katherine Stovel. The report (www.sociology. ohio-state.edu/jwm/ chains.pdf), published in the July 2004 issue of the American Journal of Sociology, presents a daunting picture of what is happening in American high schools. The researchers interviewed students from the only high school in a mostly white Midwestern town. The town was an hour from the nearest large city, a factor important in ensuring that the researchers were dealing with a rather contained population.

No surprise here. This is what we reap with a liberal agenda in schools.

My pastor said something that I thought was profound yesterday. He stated sex was not created for a man and a woman. Sex was not created for a boy and a girl. Sex was created for a husband and a wife, period.

Too bad many kids never hear that message.

Another good reason to ditch public schools.

Comparing this to the situations of home-schoolers, it is easy to see that teens are far more likely to preserve health and avoid inappropriate and risky behaviors when they are not immersed in an age-segregated, nonfamilial society.

...snip...

If separated from the family for most of the day, however, the hunger for belonging and intimacy easily can lead teens to accept the surrounding pattern of social structures -- pairing off and physical intimacy.

bump for common sense and the homeschool ping list. Good article. So much for questions about socialization.

"Another good reason to ditch public schools."

Kate Tsubata, ***a home-schooling mother of three,*** is a freelance writer who lives in Maryland.

You really think a study of one school without consideration of other influences and an article by a "biased" source makes the case?

Cumulative 'AIDS' figures in Canada

What is interesting is that there have only been 65 teenage cases since 1983 in Canada. Also the 20 to 25 age group is very low too.

This is similar to the U.S. and does not fit an std.

Like America, people over 60 have as much 'AIDS'
(611 cases) as both teenagers AND 20-24 years olds combined (65 teen cases and 573 cases in the 20-24 group).

Seems once again Grannies are going wild!

New US government website attacked for comments on sexuality and effectiveness of condoms

The wording of information about condoms on the site is also potentially misleading (they mean factual). US abstinence education programmes usually only mention condoms when referring to their potential for failure.

The 4parents.com site suggests that condoms offer only “moderate” protection against HIV and gonorrhoea, “less” protection against Chlamidya, herpes and human papilloma virus, and that the ability of condoms to protect against syphilis “has not been well studied.” Although these claims are backed by reference to studies looking at the effectiveness of condoms, they do not acknowledge that the studies were, almost exclusively, conducted in populations with a high prevalence, or risk of sexually transmitted infections.

____

The rest of the article (attacking the new semi honest official statements on condoms) is a pathetic attempt to defend condoms citing the one and only study (if you can call it that) conducted over twelve years ago that claimed that condoms reduced 'AIDS' in the 132 couples studied. As usual the 'conclusions' section of that report which said 'in real world use condoms failed up to 32% of the time' was ignored.

This study has been contradicted by ALL the 400 subsequent studies almost without exception.

Isn't it revealing that condoms are being "sold" to the youth of America as protection, when they are NOT protective in the least.

You would think that the public school sex ed agenda is to make sure more kids die and suffer and the truth be d*mmed.

Why parents still send their kids into unsafe government schools escapes me. God help this country. In twenty years what will she be if the people don't stop this insanity.
