President Bush has nominated Gen. T. Michael Moseley, the No. 2 officer in the Air Force, to succeed the current chief, Gen. John Jumper.
Moseley has been the service's deputy chief of staff since August 2003. After the Sept. 11 attacks, he oversaw the air wars in Afghanistan and the most recent war in Iraq as commander of Central Command air forces.
Jumper is due to finish his four-year term as Air Force chief of staff in September and retire.
If approved, Moseley would inherit an Air Force that is generally regarded as having succeeded in Iraq and Afghanistan but is now facing contracting and sex scandals. It now operates primarily in a supporting role in fighting the ongoing insurgency in Iraq, with the Army and Marines facing the majority of combat there.
Military colleagues and experts describe Moseley as a campaigner for more joint operations in the military, a concept that calls for less and less distinction between the military services.
A native Texan, Moseley received a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University in 1971 and a master's degree in 1972. He flew the F-15 Eagle fighter.
What have they been smoking??? The USAF he inherits is the best the world has ever seen and has maintained absolute air dominance, not just air superiority, DOMINANCE.

"no rational person could possibly fault Air Force performance in Iraq and Afghanistan, for it has been of exceptional historic significance, but we know some of our depraved leftist pals who like to rag on our Air Force and military no matter what...."

In the history of man, no nation has ever been able to claim the accomplishments of this US Air Force.
Its domination, has been without question, doubt or even a hint of anything less then perfection.
Saying "generall regarded" in the context here is akin to saying Bill Gates is generally regarded to be wealthy.

See my comment above - the LSM weasel words "generally regarded" allude to the fact that in the leftist circles of morons which many reporters frequent, you cannot give any unqualified praise to the US military, ever.

Most people don't realize Saddam Hussein had an Iraqi Air Force during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Well, for a few minutes, anyways. Do you wonder why the United States Air Force has not been engaged in battle with other air forces in recent history? They all know better than to bother with putting anything in the air against us. They have to be satisfied with AAA and ground-launched missles. That is, if they survive getting the crap bombed out of them.
