Listening while driving. Caller stated that this plan was going to be started by private enterprise, notably Donald Trump.

Ramonan? Is that Ramona, CA?
I can go for a twin tower design. Sweet!
I hope it's Twin Towers, if not, forget about it.
Donald was suggested as the man who knows the most about building in NYC. At least we know that he'll fire people if they don't do it right. I think it was originally presented as a joke....but he's got my vote!!
Deroy Murdock has a great artcle on NRO:
Rebuild them, taller, and prouder.
Ping
I've seen alot of Donald's buildings through advertising etc. growing up, even watching him go through the Ivana deal growing up, you gotta admit, the guy is alright for a millionare. I'm surprised he didn't take Ivana "fishing" when he divorced her, he almost went broke and everyone thought he'd never make it again to where he was before.
I give the Trump a "thumbs up" too!
I think the idea of rebuilding them, bigger and better than they originally were, is by far the best way to honor those who fell.
I've seen the schematics of that center they were planning with all the gardens and stuff, and honestly, it looked like a pile of crap to me.
Yes. That first design
was very strange. This new plan
looks the way it should.
Donald had his sons with him at an interview. They were very impressive.
I agree.
Looking for escape solutions....Walkways between buildings...More staircases....Outside elevators?? which can be operated manually??
Dittos.
The original WTC was something of a white elephant. It was after all a government project. It was uneconomically tall, and its office space was too expensive for the businesses involved in world trade for which it was originally built. It ended up as premium office space for white shoe law firms and investment houses. Also remember it was designed before the internet. There is much less need to concentrate the physical location of knowledge workers than there was in the 1960s. It makes economic sense to put lower wage workers in cheaper offices and connect them to corporate offices via broadband VPNs.
Why not parachutes?
....Elevators would be of fireproof design, and the towers would have advanced fire-fighting systems. Both buildings would have six stairwells rather than four. The stairwells would contain sensors which indicate if they have been breached in any way. The stairwells would also be wider than the originals...
