First of all, he was the president of the UCLA MEChA chapter, and he has never repudiated MEChA. This outfit has the declared goal of splitting the Southwest off from the USA to form "Aztlan." The official logo of MEChA is an eagle holding a lit dynamite bomb.

PS: "Mecha" is the Spanish word for fuse, as in the fuse of the lit dynamite bomb the MEChA eagle is getting ready to drop.

You'll note that it was slightly half-hearted. And, it was also last week.

That's about three decades after he was in the group. And, it's also weeks or months *before* he received endorsements from worthies like Magic Johnson.

That means they supported him probably knowing he was in that group, that they supported him *before* he had renounced that group, and AV's renouncement also means that he agrees that group is not something one should be proud of.

AV is now a national figure. Hopefully the MSM will now feel free to look into his background and that of people like Cedillo, Nunez and the rest.
