I spoke too soon. This morning, Kay Bailey responded to Clements. Basically, she accused him of working in collusion with Perry to blame any rancor in a GOP primary on her.

She's waiting until June 30 to decide so she can determine if blaming the failure of the Texas leg to come up with property tax relief and a school funding plan on Perry will work to her advantage.

Well, crud. I guess we'll just have to see how this develops, but I tend to agree with Clements.

Sens. John Cornyn, R-Texas, and George Allen, R-Va., are co-sponsors.

Gov. Allen for President!

Her office said her handgun is a Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum revolver. Hutchison said after she learned of the D.C. gun ban, she dismantled her gun, bought a travel case for it and took it back to Texas.

Somebody pray tell me how to field strip a DA revolver? Pretty tough without a screwdriver. If she performed a detail strip/disassembly and removed the side plate, trigger assembly, cylinder...yada yada yada....I hope she didn't have parts left over on the reassembly!

Even Mrs. Reagan was not allowed to bring her .38 revovler to the white house. She said in an interview once, that she used to keep a .38 in the dresser next to her bed, before she moved to the white house.

Sorry, but I don't buy that. The White House is Federal territory and the local ban wouldn't apply. For example for years the county where Enterprise Alabama is located is or was dry. No alcohol sales. That law did not apply to nearby home of army aviation, Fort Rucker. Every 21+ girl in the county was always in the Rucker Officer's Club every Friday night! Now, maybe Ronnie said no....or much more likely the Secret Service said NO! But it wasn't a DC gun law.

She'd be the wealthiest woman in Texas if we were dumb enough to permit alimony payments.

Perhaps she took care of her husbands. She's probably got enough money in her family as they were well know in the UT Law system. Her father was Dean Keaton.

It was a long time ago, 25 years ago? but I do remember I read it somewhere, or maybe it was even in one of her TV interviews that she said it.

I don't doubt your word. All I'm saying is that maybe she was told such was the case when in reality it was the Secret Service who nixed the idea and Ronnie went along with it.

This has got to be only step one of a bigger plan. Step #2 has to be to get CCW permit legislation passed for the District. Step #3 must be to press for reciprocity between DC and Texas. Then Ms Gratia-Hupp can be covered when not at work but in the District anyway.

I may have missed something, but isn't Suzanna Hupp still a Texas State Representative from district 54?

(Not that I'd mind seeing her end up in DC, if her interests lie in that direction.)

You need to look into the details of the "Safe Passage" provision of the McLure-Volkmer Forearms Owners Protection Act of 1986.

If it covers your situation, you need to carry a copy of it, as the cops do not actually know the laws they "enforce".

She could have taken the Carl Rowan route.

Chief Justice Warren Burger answered a knock at his front door while carrying a very large pistol

That schmuck? That was the jackass who called the 2nd Amendment a fraud.

Isn't Carl Rowan's son an FBI agent on the NRA board of directors?

Seems to be so.

Rowan acted correctly but preached wrongly. Being a liberal is tough.

Well what do you know! DUH. I am so DAIN BRAMAGED since it is only two weeks to summer vacation and I'm going blind finishing up my grades, tests, etc. Sorry. Yes you are 100% correct: Gratia-Hupp is still in the Texas legislature but I also agree she's make a great addition to the national stage!
