Support H. Res. Condemning Religious Bigotry (Start with Saudi Arabia and the Muslim World)
CAIR ^ | 18 May 2005 | CAIR

Posted on 05/22/2005 8:27:25 AM PDT by Cornpone

(Washington, DC, 5/18/2005) - The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today called for people of conscience to support a resolution that "recognizes that the Qur'an as any other holy book of any religion, should be treated with dignity and respect." To be introduced by Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), the resolution also "condemns bigotry and intolerance against any religious group, including our friends, neighbors and citizens of the Islamic faith." "This resolution expresses America's respect for the holy texts of all faiths. If passed, it will also reiterate our nation's condemnation of bigoted behavior and religious intolerance," said Corey Saylor, CAIR's government affairs director.

"It's a winner on every front." Saylor also noted that while Newsweek has retracted its piece asserting that U.S. interrogators threw a Quran in a toilet, former Guantanamo detainees, as well as former detainees in Afghanistan, have made similar allegations in other media reports. A resolution of this type does not have the force of law; however, it is the expression of the opinion of the U.S. House of Representatives. CAIR, America's largest Islamic civil liberties group, is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and has 31 offices nationwide and in Canada.

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUESTED: Contact your Representative in the U.S. House (not your Senators) and ask him or her to sign-on to the Conyers' resolution condemning bigotry and religious intolerance. (No number has been assigned to the resolution at the time of this release.)

1) Tell them the allegations of Quran desecration, now withdrawn by Newsweek, hurt America's image overseas. Strong support for this resolution will demonstrate America's intolerance of bigotry and disrespect toward any religious group.

2) Ask them to contact Ameer Gopalani in Rep. John Conyers' office at ameer.gopalani@mail.house.gov or 202-223-9307 to sign-on.

Yeah. . .right. . .I'll do that when these dweebs stop calling it "art" when the Holy Cross is placed in a jar of urine and a picture of the Virgin Mary is made out of dung.

Lefty-loonie moonbats see nothing wrong with insulting Christianity, and in fact, view it as free speech and high art. However, these same lefty-loonie moonbats quiver in indignation when some mooselime rag is not treated with awe and reverence.

For the first time in my life, I wish I had a copy of the Quran. If I had one, I would be right now, this very second, in the bathroom flushing it down the toilet.

Who do we contact about changing this to condemn muslims worldwide for their religious bigotry toward Jews and Christians?

Does anyone know what would be most effective?

I'd be for some more commonsense measures, especially deporting radical mullahs and rennovating mosques to be Walmarts.

Books are just books. They are ink on paper, and no book of any religion should be made into a legally protected idol.

The only reason Conyers supports this resolution is because it condemns the US. The DhimmiRATs have gotten pretty good at camouflaging things that condemn the US in terms of "tolerance" and "brotherhood." Conyers and the rest of his party are traitors to the US, to Judaism and Christianity, and to civilization for their incessant sucking up to islime. In the past I've said "scratch a Democrat, find a traitor." Well, I'd just like to add that anyone who willingly accepts dhimmitude, and weasels dhimmitude onto those of us who refuse to accept it, is a traitor to all humanity!

Gee, the only religious bigotry I've seen on display lately is being perpetrated by Senate Dems who won't vote to confirm a devout Christian to the bench.

If that isn't religious bigotry, I don't know what is.

What do you have to say about that, Conyers?

CAIR today called for people of conscience to support a resolution that "recognizes that the Qur'an as any other holy book of any religion, should be treated with dignity and respect."

...the resolution also "condemns bigotry and intolerance against any religious group, including our friends, neighbors and citizens of the Islamic faith.

First of all, you cannot legislate morality and tolerance. It must come from the heart.

Jesus' own words...

"You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak what is good? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart. "The good man out of [his] good treasure brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of [his] evil treasure brings forth what is evil." Matthew 12:34-35

Secondly, dignity and respect are EARNED. They cannot be bought, coerced or legislated!

It appears CAIR is intent on forcing this country to accept and embrace a "religion" that has NOT earned dignity and respect on its own merit!

Where is CAIR's outrage over the beheadings of innocent civilians? A book written by a so called prophet is of more value than a human life?

I repeat...Respect must be earned!

Muslims must be liberated from Islam!

Bravo!

"We stop trying to flush the Koran, you stop beheading Americans... Deal?" (Written by an astute FReeper about a week ago, on another thread.)

BTW.....Are the "free copies" of the Koran which are being handed out by CAIR....heavily edited? Redacted?.......to exclude all of those hundreds of verses demanding DEATH to all non-Muslims? If they aren't redacted, then where is the "peace" in the Koran? Where is the "greatness" which justifies the dignified label, "one of the world's great religions?" What is "great" about perpetual mass murder over 14 centuries? What am I missing here?

I wrote lots of words to reply, but none do your post justice, so I use the backspace key! As usual, you have used moderation and restraint, sense and reason, in making very forceful and valid points.

I am not against condemning bigotry and intolerance...in the right context. But I certainly won't tolerate violent Qutbees acting on their faith!
