(Washington, DC, 5/18/2005) - The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today called for people of conscience to support a resolution that "recognizes that the Qur'an as any other holy book of any religion, should be treated with dignity and respect." To be introduced by Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), the resolution also "condemns bigotry and intolerance against any religious group, including our friends, neighbors and citizens of the Islamic faith." "This resolution expresses America's respect for the holy texts of all faiths. If passed, it will also reiterate our nation's condemnation of bigoted behavior and religious intolerance," said Corey Saylor, CAIR's government affairs director.
"It's a winner on every front." Saylor also noted that while Newsweek has retracted its piece asserting that U.S. interrogators threw a Quran in a toilet, former Guantanamo detainees, as well as former detainees in Afghanistan, have made similar allegations in other media reports. A resolution of this type does not have the force of law; however, it is the expression of the opinion of the U.S. House of Representatives. CAIR, America's largest Islamic civil liberties group, is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and has 31 offices nationwide and in Canada.
IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUESTED: Contact your Representative in the U.S. House (not your Senators) and ask him or her to sign-on to the Conyers' resolution condemning bigotry and religious intolerance. (No number has been assigned to the resolution at the time of this release.)
1) Tell them the allegations of Quran desecration, now withdrawn by Newsweek, hurt America's image overseas. Strong support for this resolution will demonstrate America's intolerance of bigotry and disrespect toward any religious group.

For the first time in my life, I wish I had a copy of the Quran. If I had one, I would be right now, this very second, in the bathroom flushing it down the toilet.
I oppose whatever Conyers is for.
Detroit's mayor can't allow that to happen yet Conyer's replace hasn't finished his training yet to say yes to what ever Detroit's Mayor want.
Who do we contact about changing this to condemn muslims worldwide for their religious bigotry toward Jews and Christians?

I'd be for some more commonsense measures, especially deporting radical mullahs and rennovating mosques to be Walmarts.
Books are just books. They are ink on paper, and no book of any religion should be made into a legally protected idol.
I already condemn the muslim's bigotry and intolerance of other religions.
The only reason Conyers supports this resolution is because it condemns the US. The DhimmiRATs have gotten pretty good at camouflaging things that condemn the US in terms of "tolerance" and "brotherhood." Conyers and the rest of his party are traitors to the US, to Judaism and Christianity, and to civilization for their incessant sucking up to islime. In the past I've said "scratch a Democrat, find a traitor." Well, I'd just like to add that anyone who willingly accepts dhimmitude, and weasels dhimmitude onto those of us who refuse to accept it, is a traitor to all humanity!

First of all, you cannot legislate morality and tolerance. It must come from the heart.

Secondly, dignity and respect are EARNED. They cannot be bought, coerced or legislated!
It appears CAIR is intent on forcing this country to accept and embrace a "religion" that has NOT earned dignity and respect on its own merit!
Where is CAIR's outrage over the beheadings of innocent civilians? A book written by a so called prophet is of more value than a human life?
I repeat...Respect must be earned!
Muslims must be liberated from Islam!
