BTW, I am a product of the public schools and I know exactly how little US history they teach! In the 80's, we were required 1 year of US History which basically covered the Revolutionary War to the Industrial Revolution. We ran out of time while studying the stock market crash of 1929. If I hadn't taken an elective Civics class, I never would have studied the Constitution.

I can tell you all you'd want to know about Andrew Carnegie! (rolling eyes)

Ah, the joys of TN public ed. Did they issue you these super-huge Social Studies books ? I discovered it would take 2 full years+ to adequately cover said book. We were fortunate if we got up past the pilgrims to WWI. We covered the pilgrims so often year after year that I was truly sick to death of them and those ridiculous paper cutouts of turkeys they used to have us make.
