Prolly just a bunch of godless atheist psychiatrists. The shrinks want to take over the counseling that priests, pastors, rabbis do. It's competition, the American way.
Naturally the godless have no problem with gay marriage. There are likely tons of gay psychiatrists which also tilts this association to approving gay marriage

Well, the two reasons you stated, plus MONEY! There is big money in forcing this on society, for them. And there is big money in keeping the homosexuals hooked into their chain of unending visits and drugs too.
I agree, the APA is a bunch of left wing wacko's who themselves need a shrink, as on here stated, which is why he/she left the assoc.

MONEY!Jeez, I forgot about the money factor- shrinks (if you'll forgive the use of the term) are well known for their ability to have a client come back for 'another' session eternally.
I think you'll find this somewhat interesting, excerpted from a paper I'm working on:
Depression is very common today. If a middle-aged, sedentary person goes to a psychotherapist complaining of depression, an interesting argument could be made that he should immediately be referred to a physical fitness program instead of being given psychotherapy. After all, the patient is neglecting his body in the most fundamental way, and medical knowledge tells us there is a high probability that he will consequently be sick and will probably die years sooner than he otherwise might. He should be depressed! talking about his feelings will not exercise his body! If he still has complaints after getting into good physical condition, then psychotherapy might be worthwhile.

Representatives of the nation's top psychiatric group approved a statement Sunday urging legal recognition of gay marriage. If approved by the association's directors in July, the measure would make the American Psychiatric Association the first major medical group to take such a stance. Not surprising. Weren't they the first professional group to 'recognize' homosexuals by removing the condition from their list of psychiatric disorders?

Depression is very common today. ... If he still has complaints after getting into good physical condition, then psychotherapy might be worthwhile. exactly correct. My experience with psychiatrists has been that they will throw pills at the symptom until it goes away without ever curing (or determining) the underlying cause.

Why do you capitalize every K? am I missing something? Notice how the first two sentences each contain 3 K's? Perhaps it's a subtle reference to KKK... (hypothesizing out an a limb here)
