I'm sorry, but if they closed the park and I was a paying ticket holder not involved in the altercations, I'd be demanding my money returned, or at least a portion of it. Magic Mountain has been treading a dangerous path for a long time now, their security being less than proactive in preventing these types of incidents.

Not so surprisingly, the other parks are able to keep this type of thing down to a minimum. Someone needs to tack a 'We reserve the right to refuse entry to the park for any reason' and start knocking apart these gangs before they even get inside.

Big deal. There was a major gang fight at Six Flags in New Jersey a few years back. The park outlawed gang colors and booted out anyone who stepped out of line. Problem solved.

Last time I went to Magic Mountain was years ago, and there were some danged scary looking people there! They were pushing people around, cutting in line, etc. I never went back again.

Shortly after I was there, I heard about a girl who was suing the park because they'd denied her entrance due to her appearance. I thought, "Dang, how could she look even scarier than the people they DID let in when I was there?!"

Recently the radio station I listen to had a promotion, a special night where Magic Mountain would be closed to the public and they would only let in listeners who'd bought tickets in advance. In promoting this event, the radio personalities kept emphasizing how safe it would be because the only people in the park would be the radio listeners. I guess MM must have a bad reputation now, a lot of people scared to go there? What a shame. Why must everything nice be destroyed?

Magic Mountain has been scary for at least 10 years. We went there two years ago, kept our heads down and our mouths shut, and made sure to leave WELL before dark. There was a lot of line jumping, and there were a lot of thugs.

We saw a lady almost get her child's arm cut off because she jumped in line and tried to go in the exit door of that train-thingy that crawls up and down the hill really slowly. She shoved her kid through but didn't fit in herself. The door didn't have a safety stop like elevator doors, so people were fruitlessly pulling on the door trying to stop it while the mom kept trying to yank her child through the closing space. She wouldn't let go of his arm until another women hit her hand and arm to make her let go. If that woman wouldn't have hit the kid's mom, the kid's arm would have been squeezed off. Those doors were not stopping for anything, and the baby momma was too stupid to let go. When we got to the bottom of the hill and stepped out, another woman stood at the top of the hill that goes around the merry-go-round and shoved a stroller, with her baby inside, so that it went 20 yards or so without her. Who in their right mind shoves a stroller down a hill, with their baby inside? Nearly everybody in that park was a space-eater.

Knott's got a lot better than it was in the early 1990's. I guess after the nickel Cinco de Mayo fiasco they wised up a bit. Or, maybe I just went there on a good day.
