Yes, I know that you weren't suggesting he shouldn't be incarcerated.

I was merely stating that a just punishment should be death. There is absolutely no reason why a society should allow such a criminal to remain in prison at our expense.

"I think all child rapists should be killed."

I agree totally. No exceptions.

Perv? The ghoul rapes a child, and all they can come up with is the mild term 'perv'?

I'm against the death penalty. I figure it's worse to be in jail than to be dead (thus, jail is a more severe penalty). However, in this case, I would gladly kill the beast myself. Just for the sheer satisfaction of it.

Jolly Olde England had a right punishment for this crime:

Those convicted of High Treason were sentenced: "That you be drawn on a hurdle to the place of execution where you shall be hanged by the neck and being alive cut down, your privy members shall be cut off and your bowels taken out and burned before you, your head severed from your body and your body divided into four quarters to be disposed of at the King’s pleasure.”

As you will see from the sentence it should properly be called drawing, hanging and quartering as the condemned was drawn to the place of execution tied to the hurdle which was dragged by a horse. This is confirmed by contemporary law books. Drawing does not refer to the removal of the intestines in this context and remained part of the sentence for High Treason long after the disembowelling and dismemberment had ceased.

The hurdle was similar to a piece of fencing made from thin branches interwoven to form a panel to which the prisoner was tied to be dragged behind a horse to the place of execution. Once there, the prisoner(s) were hanged in the normal way (i.e. without a drop to ensure that the neck was not broken) but cut down whilst still conscious. The penis and testicles were cut off and the stomach was slit open.

The intestines and heart were removed and burned before them. The other organs were torn out and finally the head was cut off and the body divided into four quarters. The head and quarters were parboiled to prevent them rotting too quickly and then displayed upon the city gates as a grim warning to all.

At some point in this agonising process the prisoner inevitably died of strangulation and/or haemorrhage and/or shock and damage to vital organs.

Not Scissors, nor rusty knife, nor hangmans noose... All to quick and messy.

I'd rather the mother/father have rights with rusty razor blade for as long as they wished.

Starving rats, acid baths, and a sandpaper catheter come to mind as well.

"Oh geez, this isn't going to improve the reputation of lawyers..."

It looks like he was a bad lawyer too.

"Cops say they found those photos when Lockhart's computer was seized as part of an ongoing fraud investigation associated with his law practice."

Ohio senators for the last four decades:

Howard M. Metzenbaum Democratic 1974 1974
John H. Glenn Jr. Democratic 1974 1999
George V. Voinovich Republican 1999 present
Robert Taft Jr. Republican 1971 1976
William B. Saxbe Republican 1969 1974
Michael DeWine Republican 1995 present

I guess we can rule out Voinovich and DeWine since they are current rather than former senators.

they should have a lottery to award one person to off this animal. all proceeds to benefit some worthy cause or another. they'd raise billions.

The story says state Senator. I would assume this does not mean a US Senator, but rather a state lawmaker.

I think it was a state senator, not a US senator.

Facing possible life in prison, Lockhart hopped a Greyhound to New York.

Child assault or molestation may need a life sentence without the chance of parole. Run ads, let everyone know about it and enforce it. One strike and you're done.

I definitely second the motion to use the hammer...but incidentally, did you know that the ad copy in that hammer ad defies logic? If the head has the same mass as a steel head, it will also have the same weight under equal gravity.

They may mean that the head is denser, and therefore provides the same smack with less volume. I'm unsure how that would help, but it's a neat marketing gimmick nonetheless.

The old boil in oil method would work too. I believe it was George Carlin that coined the phrase "French Fried Felon"?
