PUNTA GORDA Deputies arrested two teenagers on felony assault charges after they allegedly attacked a school bus driver. The bus driver also faces a misdemeanor charge of battery after the Tuesday afternoon incident.
Investigators say driver Albert Taylor, 66, was having a problem with several students when he stopped the bus and strapped a male student in with a seat belt.
Taylor then called deputies, which made the other students angry.
The bus driver called 13-year-old Corey Hendershot to come to the front of the bus. When he refused three times, Taylor went back to get him.
Mark Dickinson, 15, who deputies identify as Hendershot's brother, then jumped into the aisle and headed for Taylor while cursing at him.
Deputies say Taylor turned around and slapped Dickinson and grabbed him by the throat. As the fight continued, Hendershot got involved and went after Taylor.
As the driver went towards the front of the bus, Dickinson followed him, then pushed and hit Taylor in the face. Hendershot also punched Taylor in the side, according to authorities.
Deputies say a videotape was on the bus and rolling during the incident.
Taylor was charged Wednesday with Simple Battery, a misdemeanor.
Hendershot and Dickinson were also Wednesday and charged with felony Assault or Battery on Specified Officials or Employees.
The two are students at Punta Gorda Middle School.

Nice gig.
Of the infamous Hendershot-Dickinson clan.
Driving a school bus has to be one of the worst jobs in the world.
NC ping?
This is Charlotte County, FL.
Not NC! :)
Whoops! I figured Punta Gorda was some Mecklenburg suburb I hadn't heard of :-).
My apologies to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system.
LOL!
Well, it's understandable.
I only knew where Punta Gorda is because my grandparents were married there in April 1945.
At the time, my grandpa was stationed at the Punta Gorda Army Air Field.
Where else would it happen but Florida? Everything vile seems to be happening there these days. Guess California has been retired as the kook capital of the US.
Heh! You obviously don't read the news from the Charlotte (North Carolina) schools.
End of the war - good time to get married. My great-uncle (and aunt) got married December 5, 1941 :-).
My parents were married in 1962 at the Lakehurst, NJ, Navy Zeppelin base! Dad still goes to "Lighter Than Air!" reunions.
Can't have an adult
punching kids like this guy did,
but I have seen kids
(I've said in threads that
the kids must have been raised by
libertarians
and picked up their folks'
contempt for directions and
jones for violence)
push adults so far
that the adult was forced to
get help with restraint.
School buses area nightmare! The kids are out of control with one driver and how ever many out of control kids. I bet any money the kids were complete aholes and of course I see mom and dad are taking the kids side so no lessons learned on that front. I wouldn't be a school bus driver for all the rice in China. I taught school and that was bad enuf! True the driver blew his cork but after how many times of telling these jerks to sit put on seat belt etc. If they had gotten in a wreck gee mom and dad would have sued because their little darlings didn't have on belts and it was the drivers responsiblity.
The last time I rode a school bus was the late 70's, and it was a nightmare then. I can't imagine what drivers have to put up with these days.
An adult can kill
a child with one punch; or do
brain damage. The kids
were monsters, yes. But
adults always have to try
and keep perspective.
