I've thought about it, and I don't care if Hillary becomes President in 2008, because -- as we have seen -- it makes no damned difference which "party" holds the top spot: the elites on both sides of the aisle are indistinguishable in terms of the end result. Oh, there might be a "conservative" law passed here, or a "liberal" law passed there, but in the end it's the same old status quo ante. Does anyone really think that President Al Gore would have just sat around and done nothing after September 11? Of course not. If Gore had been elected, we'd still be fighting the Islamofascists -- maybe not in the same way as W does it, but fighting them just the same, because our national survival is at stake. The same goes the other way around: our "conservative" Congress fell all over itself to give the seniors a nice, juicy liberal prescription drug plan, just as they would have if Gore had been elected. Conclusion: no matter which "party" one votes for, in the end it's the same old bastards kowtowing to the same old interest groups to get their votes.

I'm a monarchist. I think (and history shows) that popular government is a fatally flawed idea. Therefore, it makes little difference to my life if the "Red" team of bastards beats the "Blue" team -- they're all bastards just the same. None of our nation's real problems (borders, tax/spending, health care, national security, etc.) are going to be solved under the current political system because it is going to take radical action to solve these problems, and our form of government is designed to prevent radical action from being taken. The Constitution was constructed the way it is for that very reason. Therefore, the only way any real action can ever take place is outside of a Constitutional framework -- and no patriotic American wants to even think of that happening. I certainly don't. I like my nice, comfortable life, thank you very much.

Therefore, it's obvious to me that no matter which "party" is running the government come January 2009, the whole creaking inefficient mess will continue to groan along pretty much as it has for the past 215 years -- that is, well enough, but not very well.

Unless something drastic happens before then and changes everything. (God forbid, of course.)

I think you are right, it doesn't really matter at all, I believe both teams, Red and Blue, sell themselves out to their own and sometimes even the same interests. I'm very cynical I guess, deep down inside I've always felt that way. My grade school buddy I still hang with, he'll be 40 in July (I'll be 39 then) and he's never voted nor does he follow the news much. He says, "why bother" and basically goes on about how both sides really don't care about people like us and are out to get our chips. There are times I think he is really right on. Sure, I really do believe that if President George W. Bush or Senator John F. Kerry would come across someone starving in the street, I'm sure they would buy that person a meal and get them some help but on a national level, they are beholden to their own and again, sometimes same interests.

I don't like to say this but I'll be up front being the realist that I am, I think that if certain key issues in social and immigration policies are not dealt with in a Constitutional way, the only due course is to take extra-Constitutional measures. The Constitution is not broke by any means but as time goes on, with the deadlock we have along with both teams using the Constitution either as toilet paper or as a justification for their actions (right or wrong, usually the latter and that's the problem) we could end up with an authoritarian system that none of us would like.

As I become more jaded and older, I'm becoming more of a Judeo-Christian "Dominionist," sort of another word or take on being a "Monarchist" from what I understand it to be. All I can say is the big boys keep fighting while us down here in the trenches suffer and pay for it.

Therefore, it's obvious to me that no matter which "party" is running the government come January 2009, the whole creaking inefficient mess will continue to groan along pretty much as it has for the past 215 years -- that is, well enough, but not very well.

I remember my father saying in 1973 that "America will not exist as you know it" either it will collapse or we end up in an atomic war with the end game being "balkanization." You might see "Yugoslavia on steroids" here. He was off by a generation though, he figured it would have happened sometime between 1985 to now, but I do feel if we don't pull back from the abyss, this is our future. All I can say is that I do feel politically homeless and I'm sure many do share that for whatever reasons.

Unless something drastic happens before then and changes everything. (God forbid, of course.)

If you want a real chilling take on a "what-if" for a future, try, www.johntitor.com. I don't believe the time traveller, alternate Earth story myself, well at least it is very dubious at best, I'm willing to keep an open mind. I do think the more plausible thing is the author(s) behind John Titor is trying to warn us to where we could be headed.
