Gary Bauer Calls Senate Judicial Deal a 'Sell Out'
US Newswire ^ | 5/23/05 | Kristi Hamrick

Posted on 05/23/2005 8:19:01 PM PDT by Tumbleweed_Connection

Former Presidential Candidate Gary Bauer issued the following statement late Monday as news of the "travesty" to justice deal on stalled judicial nominees was released.

The President of American Values said: "This is a sad day for our nation. The desire of millions of Americans to restore balance to our federal courts has been thwarted behind closed doors by 14 senators. Only three of President Bush's appointees are guaranteed an up or down vote under this sell out.

"Under this agreement it is now more likely that radical social change will continue to be forced on the American people by liberal courts committed to same sex marriage, abortion on demand and hostility to religious expression. The Republicans who lent their names to this travesty have undercut their President as well as millions of their most loyal voters. Shame on them all."

John McCain to the rescue...what a RINO. This was a sellout pure and simple. I am so fed up with these so called moderates of the Republican party!

Git a rope or git a ballot. We have to remove them somehow. Either way is just fine.

A day ago I thought that we may actually be on our way to adding a few seats in the Senate, maybe even getting to the magical 60. But now that dream is dead. The rats will own the Senate within 6 years. (On the other hand, with these seven RINOs, they already DO own the Senate.)

It's not a 100% victory, but now Owens, Pryor, and Brown will get their seats on the federal courts. The liberals are quite content with incremental victories; I don't think we should be so quick to discount them.

Dear Gary Bauer,

Hey, didn't you support McCain in 2000?

How's that working out for you?

Regards,
watsonfellow

What did the Republicans get out of this deal that they couldn't have gotten by cutting off the filibuster?

The Democrats got to keep the filibuster for use later down the road. All one Democrat has to do is utter the words "extreme circumstances" and we're right back at square one.

Who were these 14 so called "centrists" that gave away the bride before the wedding? McCain had to be one of them.

Frist says he wasn't a part of the deal, but does anyone think he didn't know all the details? What are Frist's presidential chances now?

Bauer can just thank his pal that he supported in the 2000 Presidential primaries. Anyway, this is what Reid is saying, "We have sent President George Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and the radical right of the Republican party an undeniable message ... the abuse of power will not be tolerated."

Unbelievable. How much more in your face can this Democrat abusers of power get? I just love the "we" in that statement. Is that the message the Republican sellouts intended to send? We need them out of there.

I'm afraid that the gang of 14 are beyond hope. We have to focus our attention on the republican leadership and tie contribution and votes to their ability to manage the renegade senators. There has to be a proce to pay for not towing the party line. Immediately all republican senators who betrayed Frist and the party should be taken off all committee assignments, their offices should be moved to the basement janitor closet of the furthest building from the Capitol and there should be absolutly no party money for their elections and pet projects. The party should immediately identify and groom the primary candidate to run against them with full party backing.

John McCain to the rescue...what a RINO.

I'm reminded of all the fawning over this RINO SOB right here on FR during his speech at the GOP convention last summer, with some Freepers all caught up in the emotion of the moment going so far as to say that they'll never criticize him again.

I knew better.

Mathew

21
Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt
not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the
judgment:
22
But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother
without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and
whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of
the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in
danger of hell fire.
23
Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there
rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
24
Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be
reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
25
Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way
with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the
judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be
cast into prison.

Major sellout...but I wish Gary Bauer wasn't trying to be our spokesman. His heart may be in the right place, but he sometimes reminds me of Howard Dean and Ralph Nader. He's just too goofy.
