Well, know what you mean. We have a Baptist church in town, very strong, but it has one of these huge electronic billboards where they post some messages that really rile people up. On the edge, you might say. One part of me says they're sometimes over the top, the other part of me says it's their right, sometimes they're right on. It's foundational - freedom of speech, freedom of religious expression.
Good points. Prayers for your brother...
Or is it religious 'tolerance' is only supposed to go one way? I don't agree with the Islamics but I agree they have a right to worship as they choose. They're wrong, but they have that right. Just as the preacher has the right to speak his opinion.
**You don't win converts to Christianity by going into attack mode.**
No, but sometimes you have to when you take a stand against something.
Actually the statement by Jesus Christ that He is the way the truth and the light and that no man comes to the Father except through Him sort of makes other religions moot though doesn't it? That very statement puts other 'religions' on a lower level than Christianity. Course if you want to worship a tree or some statue that's your right and makes no difference to me.
Sometimes you need to swat a mule with a board to get its attention before you can explain to it what it needs to do.
Like the baptist who told my wife she is going to hell because she is jewish?
**You don't witness to people by insulting them for no reason**
Somehow I don't think this sign was meant to be evangilistic. I think it was meant to state a plan honest truth, period.
**Sometimes you need to swat a mule with a board....**
Very well said.
Where did I post that?
All this time I thought he was in the US military.
Third Infantry.
My point is that Creighton Lovelace talks pretty tough over here in the States, but there are probably Tennessee Baptists in uniform in the Sunni Triangle who, if Creighton's little tantrum makes it to Al-Jazeera, will have an even harder day on the job.
Likewise, some of Seema Riley's coreligionists may well die in more riots if her comments are used to fuel the fire.
In reality, Lovelace did not win one new soul for Christ and Riley did not defend any Muslim.
But they both got their faces on TV and their names in the paper, which is all they really cared about in the first place.
From what I read in this article, I think I would like Bro. Lovelace alot.
I love the second to last line, that he has nothing against flea markets!! Too good.
It was most likely meant to cause a stir so this character could bask in the free publicity.
Disedifying and shameful.
Did it get her attention? It seems to have gotten yours.
What is shameful about being honest while commenting on current news?
Was it shameful for all of those editorial cartoons to show a Newsweek being flushed? Were they just basking in the free publicity for nothing or were they making a statement?
If the word "koran" were replaced with "bible," the ACLU would be defending the right to free expression.
You hit the nail on the head.
