Local churches rally for Keystone School District(ACLU News)

KNOX,PA - Keystone students, parents and guests will conduct a baccalaureate program at 7:30 p.m. May 26 at the Keystone High School auditorium – a ceremony previously held immediately before and as part of graduation ceremonies.

Meanwhile, several area church leaders were expected to attend the May 23 meeting of the district school board to speak out concerning a recent demand from the American Civil Liberties Union that the district stop all prayers at school events and school board meetings.

The school board meeting was held too late for the details of the session to be included in this report. Pastor Terry Jacobs of Riverhill Evangelical Church said last week the group planned to attend the meeting and voice their support for a battle with the ACLU.

“We (church leaders) believe we need to take some of the responsibility for this problem because we have not been as supportive of the school board as we had been in the past,” Jacobs told the Clarion News. “We plan to be there and be supportive in the future.”

Leaders and members of area churches met May 19 at the Carriage Inn in Knox to discuss the ACLU’s demand.

“We encouraged everyone present that the main point of our meeting was to organize our thoughts and to come into unity with each other in order that we might present ourselves at the school board meeting as a credible organization and not some fanatical group like the liberal media would like to represent us,” Jacobs told the Clarion News May 20.

If ACLU does not want to hear the prayers. Put their fingers in their ears and hum quietly. We will not file suit if the hum out of tune.

It isnt that the ACLU is against hearing prayers, they really cant hear them anyway with their heads up their butts, The problem is they dont want to allow anyone to hear prayers. Freedom of speech doesnt count when its a prayer you are speaking. At least not to the ACLU.

You can help stop the ACLU by contacting your representatives to support the following:

Rep. John Hostettler, R-Ind., filed a measure to amend the Civil Rights Attorney's Fees Act of 1976, 42 U.S.C. Section 1988, to prohibit prevailing parties from being awarded attorneys fee in religious establishment cases, but not in other civil rights filings. If you want to corral the ACLU, then consider a letter or email to your Congressman urging them to cosponsor this legislation.

Sponsor of H.R.2679: To amend the Revised Statutes of the United States to eliminate the chilling effect on the constitutionally protected expression of religion by State and local officials that results from the threat that potential litigants may seek damages and attorney’s fees.
