Iran plans to award a major natural gas project to France.
Iranian officials said Teheran has decided to provide France's Total with a 50 percent stake in the development of the Pars liquefied natural gas project. They said Total would obtain the project after the withdrawal by Malaysia's Petronas.
Petronas has withdrawn its 20 percent stake in Pars LNG, officials said. They said that unless another candidate is found, Teheran would award the project to Total, which already has 30 percent of Pars LNG.
Officials said Total would seek another partner for Pars LNG. They said Petronas decided to abandon the project amid complaints of insufficient financial return.

I think the oil for food scandal in Iraq was just the tip of the iceberg. The UN can be bought by any country hostile to the US. No wonder the commies don't want Bolton there.

I don't think one has to try very hard at all to buy France. Unless Iranian mullahs think opening a check book is tough work.
