New York Sen. Hillary Clinton's chief accuser Peter Paul said Saturday that yesterday's acquittal of her former campaign finance chairman, David Rosen, doesn't mean she's in the clear.
"This is by no means an exoneration of Hillary's campaign," Paul told NewsMax. "In fact. it's an indictment of her campaign."
Calling Rosen a sacrificial lamb who was set up to take the fall for higher-ups, Paul said, "The jurors clearly didn't believe that he filed these false FEC reports on his own." Paul's allegations about expenses he covered for an August 2000 gala fundraiser for Mrs. Clinton spurred a four-year investigation that resulted in Rosen's indictment on four counts of underreporting costs to federal regulators.
U.S. District Judge A. Howard Matz dismissed one count before Rosen's trial started earlier this month. On Wednesday, Matz tossed out a second count, which - Paul told NewsMax - was based a false report filed by the campaign's treasurer, Andrew Grossman.
"When the judge dismissed that count of Rosen's indictment, that was a signal to the jury that he wasn't responsible," Paul explained.
"In fact, it wasn't Rosen's responsibility, which one of the jurors made clear, to ensure that the accounting was accurate," he said. "And if Rosen wasn't responsible for the third one, there was no reason for the jury to think he was responsible for the first two."
Even with the not-guilty verdict, Paul said Rosen's trial would bolster his case in a civil lawsuit he has filed against the Clintons, noting that testimony at the trial backed his claim that Hillary was involved in planning the August 12 event and had knowledge of its costs.
"The testimony showed she was absolutely responsible for the hiring of the biggest vendor of the event, Gary Smith, who admitted he received more than $600,000 for his fees," he said.
"This vindicates my civil suit," Paul said. "It gives me corroboration of all the major allegations in the civil suit. The civil suit is more important now than ever as the only way to get Hillary under oath."
Not like there should be any expectations of a Clinton under oath.
Hillary under oath means nothing. She has the best legal handlers in the country.
Can you say, "I can't recall?"
Can you say, "I have no recollection of that?"
Can you say, "I don't remember?"
I sincerely hope Mr. Paul has the slimiest lawyer around. He'll need it if he plans on getting anything useful out of The Hildabeaste. I hope she goes down in flames. Lots of folks have tried and none have succeeded.
Hate it? Never! Learn it, live it, love it... it's a way of life =)
The sheer number of Causes of Action is breathtaking -- SEVENTEEN, not all against Hillary. The level of proof of guilt for a civil trial is substantially lower than for a criminal trial, as I understand it, (not an atty) ...
Yet a civil conviction could be grounds for other criminal actions that have not yet been prosecuted, if I understand this correctly. And the number of people named as defendants and witnesses gives more hope of something sticking (as in somebody telling the TRUTH and corroborating prosecution's charges), than if it were just the Ice Queen herself.
I pray to God for the jurors' eyes to be open, that they be compelled to convict to the fullest extent of the law, amen.
Can you say, "I have no recollection of that?"
Can you say, "I don't remember?"
Do you remember that press conference shortly after she became a senator, where she stood in front of a bank of microphones in one of the halls outside of the senate chamber, and said over and over again, "I had no knowledge.....".......[...of my brother and of Billy's brother setting up shop in the White House, during our final weeks there, selling pardons hand over fist...]
Hillary "had no knowledge" of such "goings-on." She, who is "the smartest woman in the world," with eyes in the back of her head and an army of shysters protecting her 24/7.
Char :)
A civil trial may produce evidence that Rosen committed perjury.
refresher for all ping!
Not like there should be any expectations of a Clinton under oath.
The only oath the Clinton understands is,
"I'll get you my Pretty, and your little dog TOOOOOOO!"
And then Rush follows through with "My Mind Is a Blender, I just can't remember. Like jello... jello... jello...."
I really like the prospect of that. And maybe Peter Paul will find more friends among conservatives. Who knows? FRegards....
"the clintons--America's Biggest Blunder"
You got that right! Thank you for all your hard work!
FRegards....
"A civil trial may produce evidence that Rosen committed perjury."
A civil trial couldn't hurt, IMHO. FRegards....
