There are wounds not caused by bullets and shrapnel and they are just as bad if not worse. As anyone that has been in real combat (not a REMF cook or admin type) will tell you.
I'm here to tell you PTSD is not crap, it's real. I spent 14 months in Iraq in an infantry unit. I saw my share of firefights and am here to write this because the AK-47 bullet headed for my heart was stopped by the ceramic plate in my vest. I saw more than my share of dead Iraqis (many of whom I made that way) and dead Americans. Young and old. Black and white. Even male and female.
I still do not sleep through the night, waking up at 0300 every morning, unable to go back to sleep. The nightmares of firefights have finally gone away but the sleeplessness remains. I have talked with vets at the VA but this is something that will eventually pass.
You're usename portrays you as a Vietnam survivor. If you have never experienced any of these things, they you are in serious denial or you were in the rear with the gear in a nice safe cushy place.

(If their Chief of police is okay with it, I am guessing that we should probably be okay with it.)
