Sir, thank you for your appreciation, however the same appreciation should go to all those that went before me and to those that came after. Some call us the "Greatest Generation", but in my estimation, (for what it is worth) I think that every generation is the "GREATEST'. In the 1940's we did our duty, and that is what following generations did also. So, no, in my esitmation we were not the "Greatest Generation." I cannot tell you how proud I am of the young people that are now in all of our Armed Forces right now. I doubt that I could in my very best condition could keep up with them. I marvel at the determination that some of these young people have, to lose a limb, or other part of their body, then go right back to where they lost it. GOD, how I admire them all.
So much for the ramblings of an old man, but I hope that I can in a small way express to any and all of the Armed Forces (especilaly the MARINE CORPS) a wonderful Memoral Day, and God Bless you one and all.

Have a good evening and the very best to you and yours.

Yes, the generations that went before, those that were with us, and those that are following are truly the greatest. They are so young, but also so mature. I work with a Captain who was a company commander in Iraq for a year. Wounded once, he continued in command even though he was offered to be replaced. He never brags or boasts, simply goes about his everyday work.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all service members who have committed themselves to the defense of our country. And to the families of those that gave the ultimate sacrifice, their lives, please accept my heartfelt sympathy and gratefulness.

I salute my granddad (Army, WWII) my brother (Marine, Persian Gulf WarI) and my husband (Marine, 11 years service).

For my Great Uncle Evan - 82nd Airborne WWII

Who lost the use of a leg jumping into France. He was hit by machine gun fire and laid in a ditch for several days, listening as Nazis passed by - waiting for allied troops to find him.
