You posted this about 20 seconds before I did. Great post!

I just hope everyone over here on the east coast gets a chance to view it before it gets buried.

Their are not many in Congress that want to "Idiot Proof" our country. They want to increase the # of Idiots to harbour more control in an overly federalized system.

Social Security was developed by socialists, who by nature lack basic math skills, created a legal pyramid scheme.

Should we not enforce term limits on Congressmen and Justices?

Just as gun laws leave guns only in the hands of criminals,
idiot proofing laws leave the nation only in the hands of idiots…

Amen!

I have always wondered how our system of government would run if Congress were a drafted position like jury duty. Four rear term, $50,000. per year pay regardless of what you made in the private sector.

Yo - Republicans!

How's that "limited government" thingie you've been promising us for years coming along?

Or are you just another claque of useless politicians?

Well?

Yeah, I thought so.

That would appear to be why they want to idiot-proof the country. Dead idiot is no good for that purpose.

"*I would return us to a time when we were governed by a part time legislature of CITIZEN VOLUNTEERS. *I would enforce strict term limits. *I would limit their pay to the median income of the district they represent."

These three I like. In addition though, they would not recieve a life long pention for only 10-12 years of service in congress. Maybe a lump sum bonus for each year they serve.

"*I would deny them any insurances, percs or pensions not available to their constituents."

I think this one is a bit on the odd side. I think that if a business can afford to offer a group insurance plan they should. I don't believe they should be forced to by legislation though. This is how this one sounds. The government should offer a group plan to their employees, even representatives. As for those who choose to work for themselves or a small business, it is pretty much their responsibility to find insurance. It is out there.

"*No elected office holder would be allowed to run for office without resigning from the one they hold. *I would make them do their own taxes. *I would end employer witholding of income tax and make taxes payable in one lump sum just once a year. *I would change election day to the first Tuesday after April 15. *And I would allow citizens to approve or deny the application of their personal income tax dollars to certain areas of government subsidization - such as NPR, NEA."

These are the gems. This would put the fear of GOD in every representative from state to federal. The first organization I would pencil in would be the Library of Congress, followed by the Smithsonian.

I've sometimes thought pretty much the same thing though instead of having a draft I'd have a voluntary lottery. Only those who wanted the job would be eligible for selection, but there'd be no campaigning--just a random selection. Probably wouldn't produce results too much worse than what we actually have.

What about retroacting voting laws to only allow those who own property to vote? I think this was always a good idea, and it would do two things. Increase the level of intelligence of voters and increase the number of property owners. All those libs living in the city on rent control would be forced to find a house in the 'burbs. Property tax revenue would balloon. And it might even change the positions of some of those "idiots".

But I would offer that people who don't own property should not be voting on issues concerning property taxes.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can I come join your kingdom? :)

You would never want me for King. I would more ruthless than Franco. I wouldn't stop the bloodletting until I knew that every socialist was dead.
