Kerry Touts Bush Impeachment Memo

Failed presidential candidate John Kerry said Thursday that he intends to confront Congress with a document touted by critics of President Bush as evidence that he committed impeachable crimes by falsifying evidence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

"When I go back (to Washington) on Monday, I am going to raise the issue," Kerry said, referring to the Downing Street Memo in an interview with Massachusetts' Standard Times newspaper.

Story Continues Below

"I think it's a stunning, unbelievably simple and understandable statement of the truth and a profoundly important document that raises stunning issues here at home," the top Democrat added. The Downing Street Memo, first reported on May 1 by the London Times, was drafted by a Matthew Rycroft, a foreign policy aide to Prime Minister Tony Blair. It is said to be minutes of a July 2002 meeting where Blair allegedly admitted that the Bush administration "fixed" Iraq intelligence to manufacture a rationale for war.

Citing the Downing Street Memo, former presidential candidate Ralph Nader called for an impeachment investigation on Tuesday in an op-ed piece published by the Boston Globe.

"It is time for Congress to investigate the illegal Iraq war as we move toward the third year of the endless quagmire that many security experts believe jeopardizes US safety by recruiting and training more terrorists," wrote Nader with co-author Kevin Zeese. "A Resolution of Impeachment would be a first step."

The British memo, however, contains no quotes from either Bush or Blair, and is notably slim on evidence implicating Bush in a WMD cover-up.

Though largely ignored in the U.S. outside of rabid anti-Bush web sites like MichaelMoore.com, the Downing Street Memo won Sen. Kerry's endorsement in the Standard Times interview:

"It's amazing to me," the top Democrat said, "the way it escaped major media discussion. It's not being missed on the Internet, I can tell you that."

Why is Kerry making a fool of himself? Because he's terrified he'll be forgotten by '08, and desperately wants to head the dem ticket. The fact that Hillary will squash him like a cockroach isn't on his radar. He thinks TerAYsa's money will make all the difference. (Stupid is as stupid does.) When his staff is through 'going' over form 180, and he releases what they haven't redacted, he thinks he's solved his problems with Vietnam war lies, traitorous behavior, etc. He blames the SwiftBoat vets for his loss. Thank you, guys.

Uh, Senator Kerry. You have to control both houses to impeach and convict. It's a political solution to abuse of power.

It is interesting in that transcript that the red parts are highlighted (I suppose) as the "smoking statements" that are supposed to prove that the WMD "line" was made up to justify Bush's policy of regime change....

BUT, there is one paragraph that wasn't highlighted in red, that was talking about how the operation would be handled militarily---

The first line in the paragraph talked about the fear that the military (s) had that Saddam would USE THE WMD the first day of the operation, and the consequences thereof....

IF these people in this meeting were so convinced that the WMD wasn't a "real" problem and was "fixed by Bush", then why would they go on to talk about the possibility of Saddam using weapons that they are convinced he doesn't have? I would think that they would feel no need to even discuss a contingency plan...

Just when I thought I couldn't hate Kerry any more than I already do...

I guess providing aid and comfort to the enemy is a tough habit to break.

Because he is a total loser. He is in denial and can not accept defeat. He has a hard time facing all his billionaire friends and admitting that the American public did not buy his Vietman "hero" exploits and rejected him and his "Rat" friends at the polling booth.

Deal with it Johnny! Hey, by the way did you sign off on the SF-180 yet? LOL

Hey John, how about signing Form 180?

He signed Form 180. One little problem, however. He has YET to send it in.

Kerry seems to forget, but fortunately we haven't. He's told his lies so many times, he believes them. Thanks for posting a walk down memory lane. :)

...he should be removed for not doing his job, being that his poor performance has been visible to the people of the present.

I know...I just don't get it! That should have been the biggest deterrent in his quest for the WH, but it was rarely mentioned. I had heard that Jerome Corsi was thinking about running against him in '08. If he does, I will move to MA (ugh) and volunteer 20 hours a day for him.

...but he hasn't been because people are ignorant of history.

Amazing...the state that gives us Harvard, MIT, the "intellectual elite" and a great deal of the history of our country, also gives us the drunken senior senator and the illegal junior senator.

"Me either, and I have been to the end of the internet. :)"

Someone informed me that the "if-I-haven't-seen-or-heard-of-the-memo" logic is faulty. That because I haven't seen it or read it doesn't mean it does not exist or that it isn't factual.

I'm glad you're supporting my unshakable logic, which is: If I haven't seen or heard of something, then it must not exist. That logic is still valid even though a couple of posters directed me to the actual memo. Oh well, my logic may have some holes in it afterall. :)

Straight ahead!

I know.... he said he signed it. You're about the 17th person who has brought that to my attention. I haven't seen proof of him signing it, but I'm assuming you all have that right? Something beside his own words? If freepers say he signed it, I'll accept that. Until the records are released, the issues still remain.

Consider the campaign he ran.

There has been a ground effort manifesting focused on WMD as a Impeachable offense and it has grown over the past two weeks. The liberals are running short of, well anything to throw against the wall. There have been infinite back room meetings concerning Bush's decision to attack yet Kerry being the fool that he is made the statement a day before the U.N. recant. It's not about Kerry. The information is a hard slap in the face to ALL liberals as well as their media cohorts. This extinguishes a major effort to dethrone the conservative effort. The news makes the moderates that much more foolish to reasonably believe they can support the liberal efforts. Anyone with any common sense can now realize that it's no longer a mystery why Bush attacked now that 109 equipment sites have been raided for bare.
