On the day before Texas Supreme Court Justice Priscilla Owen was confirmed by the Senate as part of a negotiated compromise, Democratic Sen. Tom Harkin called her "wacko."
Harkin, appearing on liberal Randi Rhodes's national radio talk show, became animated as he said of Owen: "This is not a person to put on the bench for a lifetime appointment. This person is wacko! She's wacko!"
On the same program, Harkin said Christian broadcasters are "sort of our home-grown Taliban." He added: "They have a direct line to God. And if you don't tune into their line, you're obviously on Satan's line."

Sad, sad day for upstanding, religious, law-abiding Iowans. My late husband was from Iowa and he always thought Harkin was an idiot. My late husband was such a smart man.
Harkin is as goofy as Howard Dean, but with a little more hair.
What's even worse is that his wifey was recently named to the Iowa Board of Regents, which means that all state-run universities will continue to see 10%+ tuition hikes each year. For a state that was once known for its education system, the Harkins are doing their best to flush it all down the proverbial drain.
I've got a qustion for you. I hear his stupidity all of the time on 1040 WHO -- how in the heck does he continue to get elected?
Harkin obviously smoked too much Iowa corn silk when he was a kid.
I'll dance a jig right down Broadway when he goes!!
Plus he has name recognition from way back, and no viable candidates opposing him.
Luckily we have Grassley but lately he has shown some RINO tendencies :(

I get it. The libs are threatening judges. Maybe we'll see a crime show about dead judges in which a police investigator suggests they look for someone wearing a Tom Harkin T-shirt.

That's Mondale. He distinguished himself as losing every state but Minnesota in his failed presidential race. He completed the perfecto when he lost Minnesota in the senate race.

I wouldn't have thought that there could be so many stupid people in Iowa, though. As much as I despised Richard Gephardt's political views here, at least I could take comfort in knowing that it was a St. Louis 3rd District thing.
But to keep electing Harkin as a U.S. Senator? Makes me want to stop driving at the Iowa border sometimes. ;)
