On the day before Texas Supreme Court Justice Priscilla Owen was confirmed by the Senate as part of a negotiated compromise, Democratic Sen. Tom Harkin called her "wacko."
Harkin, appearing on liberal Randi Rhodes's national radio talk show, became animated as he said of Owen: "This is not a person to put on the bench for a lifetime appointment. This person is wacko! She's wacko!"
On the same program, Harkin said Christian broadcasters are "sort of our home-grown Taliban." He added: "They have a direct line to God. And if you don't tune into their line, you're obviously on Satan's line."

I know that's Mondale...my reference was to Harkin's antics at the Funerally. He made Howard Dean look like the Ritalin Kid with his performance there.

Yea....God bad, Howard Dean good. If you get your marching orders from God...you are Taliban. If you get your marching orders from Terry McAuliffe or Howard Dean, you're "enlightened".
Folks, this is what we're up against.

Robert Byrd probably won't be in the senate much longer. Harkin is auditioning for the role of "most senile senator." What a whack-job.

Iowa had two Democrat hack senators: real stinkers, Dick Clark and Harold Hughes, back in the seventies, but were a dependable GOP presidential state.
If my memory is correct: with Reagan, they elected two Republican senators, Grassley and a guy named Roger Jepsen, a one termer who was found to have sexual piccadilloes Harkin exploited to get elected with. Democrats love to use other people's foibles and troubles, but don't look at theirs' or they'll scream like castrated pigs.
The drought and farm troubles of the late eighties is the only thing I can point to that brought Iowa into the socialist camp. Their neighbors, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota, vote even more stupidly than the Iowans, who at least redeemed themselves last election.

His "victory" in Minnesota in 1984 was so thin, it probably could have been challenged and over-turned, but the Reaganites decided not to take that step... Wish they had gone for the clean sweep.
Boy, the Demos have served up quite a list of losers over the years.

Harkin said that the Impeachment charges against Klinton were a dung-heap.

This from a politician who has drawn his political empoweremnt from the party defended serial killing of more than 44 million alive unborn! And the American people cannot even see the face of evil shadowed in Harkin's mug.

As far as I know, Randi Rhodes and Err America are not broadcast here in Harkin's home state of Iowa.
We may be the bluest of the red states, but we don't harken to cr*p such as that.

He is a leftist goon, and an embarrassment to our state.

Harkin obviously smoked too much Iowa corn silk when he was a kid. Anyone who votes for this creep must have smoked too much Iowa corn silk when they were kids.
To: newgeezer
It seems like the line between us and them is getting wider, and that's really a good thing. I met a guy on the flight to Seattle Monday that was a democrat and very shortly after that he said he was "agnostic".

You should probably check the voting records for each Iowa county. The urban areas vote democratic while most of the rural areas don't. Most of Iowa's population is in the urban areas so we get Harkin.
It's not the farmers but the Iowa City, Quad Cities, Ames, Des Moines and Sioux City city-dwellers that keep electing Harkin.
