I'm trying to find another article covering the same story to clarify it. This one looks like it might be a translation of the same original but it's worded slightly differently:

Assyrian Cuneiform Tablets, Royal Stamp Unearthed in Syria

He added: "There are a collection of cuneiform tablets and potteries in addition to the buildings dating back to 5000 BC."

Still isn't clear:

"Head of Hassaka Directorate of Archeology, Abdul Massih Baghdou, said among the unearthed findings this year are "buildings dating back to 1800 BC."

He added: "There are a collection of cuneiform tablets and potteries in addition to the buildings dating back to 5000 BC."

There aren't any cuneiform tablets dating back to 5000 BC. So that's obviously a mistake in the translation, or a bald-faced lie in the original. :')
