Actually, I agree with you. and in cities and along the highways we should have drug testing centers and pick folks out at random. In the future we will be able to monitor blood content when folks walk by a screen. Great stuff.

If they test Warner for alcohol VA can relieve itself of a problem.

basically, they should test the senior citizen groups first..

but we always want to go after the kids because they don't vote and don't seem to have any rights ....

but question whether a 85 yro should still be driving and its like blasphemy....

let's do until the middle aged and the old what we do to the young....and then see how we like it.....

Don't the taxpayers have a right to see that their hard-earned money is well spent on educating sober and drug free students?

If the taxpayers had any rights vis-a-vis public schools, they'd have the right to decline to finance them. Taxpayer rights have nothing to do with Walters' proposal. And districts can already have a testing program if they want, but few do, so there's no evidence taxpayers are interested in testing.

"The question is: Why not apply this to young people?"

I have a better idea. Why don't we just slap a taser collar to every chidl when it begins to toddle around that sends an alarm signal to a governmental agency when their thoughts or actions are out of sync with governmental approved behaviors so they can be appripriately disciplined and their thinking redirected into government approved channels? < /sarcasm >

I think his new title should be Drug Fuehrer.

From now on, that is how I will refer to the government head of Drug Propaganda....Drug Fuhrer

I personally favor giving him a nice long swim in a pool of boiling oil... sometimes the old ways are the best ways. Perhaps the other WOD and other authoritarian thugs would just LOVE a date with the Iron Maiden. And for the BATFags, drawing and quartering. The Rack would have its place in the scheme of things as well. Minor excesses could be honored with a bucket of tar, a bale of feathers and the obligatory ride out of town on a rail... We, the People, really need to start taking back our government and revoking the unlawful usurpation of authority by these slugs in a serious way! To me, nothing says serious like boiling oil.

Don't they drug test welfare recipients? Same thing.

"... so there's no evidence taxpayers are interested in testing."

Because of the expense. If the federal government paid for all the testing, I'd bet every school would sign on.

Yeah. Get the Nazi reference into the thread early on.

Drug Fuhrer is probably better understood by the common folks than Czar.

I submit that if an initiative requires a 'Czar', it should be de-funded immediately and the person or group that proposed it should be whipped with a wet noodle.

If ever there was a valid litmus test, that is surely it.

Yeah. Get the Nazi reference into the thread early on.

You are probably one of those individuals that believe totalitarian regimes only happen in the worn pages of history books and squalid backwater countries not on your travel list. And since we've all been down that road before and have seen the grainy newsreels, it all seems so retro and distant. The very notion seems absurd to you that modern society would even think of making that mistake again. It can't happen here. Well, you'd be wrong my friend.

Odd, I don't see his comment on what actions should be taken in regard to those who may fail such testing.
