Unknown Soldier: Searching For A Father
I have to highly recommend this documentary currently showing on HBO. Here is HBOs synopsis:
On June 30, 1969, Lieutenant Jack Hulme of the U.S. Marine Corps was killed in Vietnam, just days before he was to leave the country and see his newborn son for the first time. Thirty years later, John Hulme - the son Jack never met - decided to uncover the truth about the father he never knew.
The one thing that did bother me was when Hulme's wife is speaking of her husband planning to go to Vietnam in late 1968. She references the protests at the convention and says how mad she was at Nixon. Why? He was nothing but a candidate at the time...and the violence was at the Dem convention.
Yes. I saw the show on Memorial Day. Always reticent to say anything negative about someone who has sufferred such a great loss, however, she was just flat-out wrong in her statement about Nixon. The left and their media toadies have done such a great job in blaming Nixon for Vietnam War that even widows of men who were KIA believe them...how sad.
He was killed just a few days before I arrived in country...also as a young Marine lieutenant. Eery.
Me too. It was a great documentary...that comment aside. The lady has been through a lot.
