Kerry allows Navy release of military, medical records (Navy provided them to Boston Globe)
boston Globe ^ | June 7, 2005 | Michael Kranish

Senator John F. Kerry, ending at least two years of refusal, has waived privacy restrictions and authorized the release of his full military and medical records.

The records, which the Navy Personnel Command provided to the Globe, are mostly a duplication of what Kerry released during his 2004 campaign for president, including numerous commendations from commanding officers who later criticized Kerry's Vietnam service.

The lack of any substantive new material about Kerry's military career in the documents raises the question of why Kerry refused for so long to waive privacy restrictions.

Maybe he really did want to release the records but had difficulty filling out the paper work, he was a "D" student. Knowing your A B D's is hard on a fella! lol

You might want to read this on (powerline)....scroll down to this:
On the mixed-up files of John Kerry
Reader John Boyle writes:

"I have been yelling since last year that the Navy does not have Kerry's records, nor does DoD."

"The Navy has always been Kerry's hide-out. The Navy is covered by the Privacy Laws. You're a lawyer, right? The SF 180 is generically addressed to the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis. These records are 30 to 40 years old. They are history! They do not stay at Navy Personnel Command forever."

"It seems to me that all of Kerry's tortured rhetoric on this subject attests to the fact that he was having his records vetted, in spite of the public claim to openness. How to accomplish this? Tell the NPRC, on the SF 180, that the designated recipient of the records is to be a federal Agency (subject to the Privacy Laws) - the Navy!"

"Then, Kerry or his people get to vet the records at the Navy's offices, allow release of what they want by another required waiver separate from the SF 180, withhold what they don't want out there, and the Navy cannot comment on the process, their holdings - or their withholdings!" more.......

Be sure to read the whole thing, very interesting.

Kerry allows Navy release of military, medical records

. . . because he is planning to run again in '08 and needs to have a super-sanitized version of his records vetted way ahead of time so it doesn't end up as an issue. Otherwise it makes no sense for him to release his records at this time -- or ever.

Looks like it took all this time to bullet-proof the vetting process. I think it's going to take some extra-ordinary work to piece the real truth together.

Does anyone still believe what they hear from the Boston Globe? What do you think they would say about their boy? Let me guess, "No news here."

Before I look at any documents, I would like to see, the signed and certified copy of the 180. If Kerry actually signed the authorization, any reporter ought to be able get everything. Screw the Globe.

Are there no termites in the woodwork, so to speak. . .that might share the truth of this 'sharing' of Kerry's.

How is it; these frauds continue to keep this system; at their disposal to enable their lies.

Why doesn't the Navy at least, offer that it is a less than complete record. . .they do not have to call this latest effort dishonest. . .just some truth here to fill in the potholes of Kerry's record. . .the ones that were there. . .and still remain.

...If he hasn't signed form 180, than this is simply more bullshiite from NVA John...

Likely the latter (more bs).

I'll believe he has signed and submitted form 180 when the Swift Vets say he has. Even then, I'll have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming.

Send his DD-214 and discharge to Dan Rather.
No doubt in my mind that his discharge is fishy.

Maybe a poor analogy, I don't know.

I think it's a very good analogy. Hey, if you've got nothing to hide, you don't hide anything. That is particularly true when your missing records are causing political fallout for you. No kid ever hid his report card from his parents if the report card showed straight A's.

On May 20, Kerry signed a document called Standard Form 180, authorizing the Navy to send an ''undeleted" copy of his ''complete military service record and medical record" to the Globe. "

Whoope Do! He didn't open his records, which one could do via the SF-180, but rather allowed his pet newspaper to have access to them.
