The post made a real point that matters. It's not the only thing that matters, but we can't mention everything that matters in every single post. I think if you look at the sum of posts by peacebaby, you'll see a bigger picture of the situation.
I did read all the posts. But just my opinion it seemed like the wrong emphasis to post first. Again...IMHO.
Tax dollars are also paying corrupt judges' salaries. That's a total waste of funds. Bottom line is that if you feel a little "icky" or like you are coming down with something, don't come to Florida.
We don't want the govt. in the killing business but they already are.
For those who think that when they get old, they'll have their family or nursing home give them loving care, think again. Many of the people who care for the very elderly are burned out or just plain mean and nasty.
We have special people on this thread who take loving care of their family only to get slammed for speaking the truth about how difficult it is. Most of them wouldn't wish the same fate on their children. That's love.
These are real people with real feelings and I hurt for them.
sw
Exactly.
We can't devalue anyone just because they aren't the way they used to be. I love your grandmother and don't even know her or you. Just continue to love her which obviously you do.
Utilitarianism at its finest.
Your 48. Foreign aid is likely responsible for a lot of our problems here in the states. I think billions of dollars are also wasted on political campaigns every election cycle. So much for campaign finance reform.
Terri wanted to live and she enjoyed life, especially when she spent time with her mom, dad, siblings, niece and extended family. The nurses who had relationships with Terri were FIRED the first week of the Vigils because they knew the truth about Terri and kidded around with her. Terri was alert and aware but lotsa politicians and judges needed her to be killed.
Mark Fuhrman's book will be out by the end of June. He has a page on www.amazon.com. His book about Terri is called "Silent Witness". His book addresses what happened to put Terri in her brain damaged state back in the early nineties.
I'm thinking that Lamm's statement was made in 1985.
I was a year off.
More alarming than Lamm's dismal and inaccurate predictions are his policy prescriptions. A key solution to America's health care problems, according to Lamm, is for the elderly to die sooner. Lamm has long been a major booster of euthanasia and in a 1984 speech he spoke of the elderly's "duty to die."
You gotta be kidding me. Our family just lost somebody this spring at 97-years-old. She worked up until 95, ten years past your arbitrary "dead"-line.
I just don't understand why people are so eager to climb into the grave.
Do you search my screen name everyday?
Where did I say we should be doing any of those things? My point is as people live longer and longer and medicine comes up with new ways to keep the body going when everything else is gone, this is an issue which must be discussed.
I agree with you, don't pay attention to those here who will now call you all kinds of names because you happen to live in the real world. It just seems so, so sad that our parents worked so hard, saved so hard, sacrificed so much and then all of their hard work goes to paying nursing homes and Dr. bills. To all those of age, please, enjoy your money while you can. I'm not even talking about leaving money to relatives, I'm talking about enjoying life.
Fuhrman's book will be the only analysis of her life and death not approved by the popular Michael R. Schiavo. As I understand, MRS, a registered FL Republican, has the legal power to block any publications about poor Terri that he does not personally approve. So much for freedom to publish.
She's gotten really stupid. It's a shame.
Well don't you hope so? What good would your father's fortune do him if he didn't live long enough to use it up?
