Why is climate change even on the table?? Any data support has been completely destroyed by the deceit and fraud of the hockey stick supporters. They intentionally covered up the Medieval Warming Period to make the 1990s look like the hottest point in this century. This is the Enron of climate science and is being reported this month in a few select journals. The hype ("The earth is flat. Tune in at 6:00 PM and hear the McCain posse") continues unabated but the truth will eventually win out. Whoever supports the lie will be exposed for the fraud and intellectual lightweight that they are.

So-called ‘scientists’ should be ashamed of themselves for so forsaking the basic principles of math and science that a businessman and an economist (see reference below) start a worldwide backlash against shoddy computations and outright deceit. The demise of the hockey stick support for global warming is the scientific community’s version of the Enron debacle. It is a disgrace.

Findings in 2003 by independent researchers (a Canadian businessman and an economist) have destroyed the credibility of data used by global warming proponents. McIntyre and McKitrick examined the construction and use of the data set of proxies for past climate, which were used to estimate the temperature record from 1400 to 1980. Their review found four categories of error: collation errors, unjustified truncation and extrapolation, use of obsolete data, and calculation mistakes. Correcting for these errors, they found that temperature for the early 15th century was actually higher than the 20th century. The McIntyre-McKitrick findings challenge one of the most influential aspects of the climate change debate. The hockey stick graph has been accepted as fact by the international community and many domestic interests pushing the Kyoto Protocol and McCain-Lieberman.

Our research shows fundamental flaws in the “hockey stick graph” used by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to argue that the 1990s were the warmest decade of the millennium. The original hockey stick study was published by Michael Mann of the University of Virginia and his coauthors Raymond Bradley and Malcolm Hughes [in 1998]. . . . Even from meaningless random data (red noise), it nearly always produces a hockey stick.

Professor Richard Muller of the University of California at Berkeley examined our work last fall [2004]. In an essay published in the MIT Technology Review, he said the findings “hit me like a bombshell, and I suspect it is having the same effect on many others. Suddenly the hockey stick, the poster-child of the global warming community, turns out to be an artifact of poor mathematics.”

I agree.

Looks like a bunch of politicos sticking their fingers in the wind to me.

They have to be on somebody's apple cart.

Unfortunately, they keep picking the apple carts with all the worms. ;-)
