Kerry's Vietnam (Boston Globe painted into a Corner)
Boston Glob ^ | 6/10/05 | GLOBE EDITORIAL

Posted on 06/10/2005 6:34:31 PM PDT by bitt

DESPITE THE continuing gripes of his critics, records released this week show that Senator John Kerry served honorably in Vietnam. The documents should put to rest claims that Kerry misrepresented his military record in the presidential race. But Kerry's failure to respond to the smear campaign launched against him last summer lent credibility to its real objective: to impugn his equally honorable opposition to the war.

John O'Neill, a Houston lawyer and Kerry's adversary on the war since 1971, acknowledged as much in a telephone interview Wednesday. ''We produced seven commercials," he said of his anti-Kerry group, now called Swift Vets and POWs for Truth. ''Only one dealt with Vietnam activities." O'Neill was incensed by Kerry's memorable testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 1971, in which the young veteran, clad in a combat shirt, criticized the war.

Kerry has said that he may have used a poor choice of words when he cited other veterans' reports of atrocities as being ''in a fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan." But his basic analysis was sound: Vietnamese and Americans were dying needlessly because the war was a mistake, and US policymakers allowed it to continue even though they were aware that their strategy for victory was failing.

I've been out of the news loop for awhile. Looks like Kerry did submit a 180. If, as you suggest, he got somebody to alter his records before release, that's a federal crime.

you HAVE been out of the loop.

He only signed a partial release, apparently, and only to the Glob and LA Times.

They won't show what their 180 release states.

No answers have been given to any questions other than for the 'reporter' to state that there was "nothing much new" and that, well, Kerry got lower marks than Bush at Yale.

kerry may be a terrible worthless senator but lets not employ the tactics of the left by posting lame "kerry is treasonous" websites. its time to move on from the election. if we elected real repub's not rino's like mccain and snowe then we would never have to hear from kerry anyway, his leftist socailist ideas would be tossed aside by a clear conservative majority

I've still seen no explanation for Kerry's discharge being dated about 15 years after he supposedly got out, and his medals being reissued. Until someone can explain these things, all of his records have not been released

" He only signed a partial release, apparently, and only to the Glob and LA Times."

The Boston Globe article said it was an "undeleted" request.

Also, the comments above re how Kerry was dishonorably discharged then upgraded by Carter are fantasyland, IMO.

There has not been one shred of evidence to support this conjecture. I've never even seen any evidence that Carter's amnesty affected anyone but draft dodgers.

I dislike Kerry as much if not more than anybody. It doesn't help the cause to keep repeating unproven conjecture as fact, IMO.

Was Kerry sent on a sereptitious mission into Cambodia, like Kerry repeatedly stated?

You may think calling kerry a traitor is lame, but the overwhelming majority of those who have ever wore a uniform would consider it an accurate description.

I firmly believe that many Americans are dead, that would be with their families today, but for that treasnous scum.
How anyone who knows about his trips to paris, his advocacy of the enemy's position, his knowingly false accusations......could consider him less than a traitor is beyond me. Unless you consider that Kerry has always remained loyal to the one thing that Kerry considers important, himself.

The records Kerry allowed to be released

This is deceptive.

Kerry has full access/control of every piece of his military record, and has but to personally request them.

But because he has had them released to the Navy, rather than to a non-governmental entity, he can seem to have the best of both worlds, because the Navy cannot release the entire record, only that which they receive from the Federal Records Center.

But in this case, Kerry is making the situation look like he has released it all, and the MSM enablers are helping.

i didnt say kerry wasnt a traitor; what i said was that it is lame to have lame websites devoted to the point lets worry about the mission we have and that is advancing a conservative agenda, not acting michael moore-like and attacking things that are really a waste of time to discuss

You have a lot to learn.

Hanoi Kerry IS a traitor!

For those who "forgot" what Hanoi Kerry
did in the past read on and learn the truth.

Hanoi Kerry was still a USNR officer while he:
gave false hearsay testimony to Congress
negotiated with the enemy
helped the US lose a war
abetted in the deaths of millions
created a hostile environment for all servicemen

Why is Kerry still in the US Senate?
This is in violation of
U.S. Constitution Amendment 14 Sec 3
http://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/constitution.amendmentxiv.html

And the FBI has proof of his treason.

Hanoi Kerry Timeline of a traitor
includes FBI files

May 1970
Kerry and Julia traveled to Paris, France and met with Madame Nguyen Thi Binh, the Foreign Minister of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of Vietnam (PRG), the political wing of the Vietcong, and other Viet Cong and Communist Vietnamese representatives to the Paris peace talks, a trip he now calls a "fact-finding" mission.

(U.S. code 18 U.S.C. 953, declares it illegal for a U.S. citizen to go abroad and negotiate with a foreign power.)

http://www.archive-news.net/Kerry/JK_timeline.html

a) A person charged with absence without leave or missing movement in time of war,
or with any offense punishable by death,
may be tried at any time without limitation.

Not to mention how many boat people died. The very large Vietnamese population in California hated Kerry and the press ignored them.

Hey Newbie, go visit some of Tonk's links in #7 above and then come back and spout your BS. Some of us know of what we speak. There's a wealth of information out there that gives more than a little credence to our beliefs about Kerry. And until we see a signed copy of the Form 180 with a request for ALL official sources of info to be released, most of us won't take the Boston Globe's word for it. There are too many of us who spent time over there on the boats who know that things didn't happen the way he states they did.

As I remember, there was a US boat blocking the Mekong. In order for Curry to gain access to Cambodia a Challenge and Reply would have been in order. Of course, Curry would much Rather fashion his "rememberances after the scene from "Appopletic Nuance" as directed by that famous French Director Jacques Fulashits!
