Red Badger: Made part of the Constitution, along with: The Bill of Rights applies ONLY to U.S. citizens and legal resident aliens.

I agree!

handy old one: The biggest problem is who the government see as a problem.

I find your answer, problematic.

Coloradan: Fighting words are already illegal. What sorts of additional restrictions on free speech do you think would help prosecute the war on terrorism?

Those that incite violence or give aid and comfort to the enemy.

pbrown: I agree. They can't use the freedom of speech as a Trojan horse to whip up anti-American feelings.

Yep! If you have an agenda, put it on the table.

Dan from Michigan: I voted to eliminate it. If we have to live in a police state, the terrorists win.

True, but I think we're still very far away froma police state, and we still have the 2nd Amendment, something I do NOT want tampered with.

Reagandemocrat: I agree with Huck. Pull back.

Corpus interruptus? ;)

Age of Reaon: I got an idea better than the patriot act. How about we stay out of foreign entanglements?

When they leave us alone, OK, but that's tough nowadays.

colorcountry: Yeah, I voted expanded too, which to me meant extended also. I still want it to be temporary (as the need for resticted freedoms is necessary in time of war).

Yeah, only during war, which I wish we'd declare someday...

phoenix_004: Permanent...Threat of islamic terrorism is real and here to stay!!!! We have no option but to defend america and in doing so if we have to forgo some rights then so be it.

I don't see where we're giving up any rights with the P.A. to begin with, unless it were abused, which would be the same with any law/act.

You don't "see"...?

Are you freaking blind, or what?

I posted the definition of habeus corpus. Under that rule, a court cannot hold a person without defining his crimes, and charging him. That RIGHT has been suspended.

I posted the fourth amendment. Under that RIGHT, a warrant must be issued to investigate an ALLEGED crime (you know that old "not guilty until proven" thing), IF THERE IS REASONABLE SUSPICION, and only then will a warrant be issued.

I posted the fifth amendment. Under that right, a person has the right not to incriminate himself. Click it or ticket is not part of the alleged WOT, but is just another straw, weighing on the back of liberty. The statement "if you have nothing to hide" holds no water, when every LEO is willing to trick you and cajole you into making an error, even when you have done nothing. LE, today, is about tax collection, and who's got the best doughtnuts. Look at most of the LEO's now. They come in two sizes and shapes (other than those few foolish little girls that want to play with the big boys, in the name of "PC". One size, and shape, is fat, and barely able to guard a court bathroom. The other size and shape always wants to wear black, and tuck their BDU's into their Jack Boots... and drive down the highway, in the left lane, speeding, to lunch with the fellow boys in blue/black/ninja suits.

I posted the sixth amendment. under that RIGHT, a person is guaranteed a speedy trial. Tell that to the people sitting without warrants, in cells, without lawyers, without charges, without communication.

Oh, that's right, we don't know if there are any. But, the PA allows for it... and I would make you a friendly wager... Ever heard about Siberia?

I would personally take out an "enemy combatant" with any means available. I do not think they have any rights. They are soldiers without a uniform.

But, as soon as my government takes control of anyone, they should be obligated to follow their own mandates.

Instead, they flush them... for freedom?

Yeah, I feel the freedom...

Your papers, please...

There are groups that some people want put under a microscope because they don't understand them like parents that send their children to priviate schools or home school.
People that trust GOD for most things in their life.

Words that incite violence are "fighting words" and are already illegal. Words that give aid and comfort to the enemy are "treason" and are already illegal. No patriot act is necessary (although, I frankly don't know what you have to do today to get charged with treason, considering that Hanoi Jane and John Kerry's acts somehow didn't rise to that level).

So I guess they attacked us for following George Washington's advice about avoiding foreign entanglements.
